Key accountabilities:
- Managing the Central Finance, Payroll and Reporting teams consisting of 15 people (4 direct, 10 indirect and 1 dotted line).
- Budgetary responsibility for own department as well as facilities and oversight of UK shared service functions.
- Empowered to make decisions over a wide range of financial areas.
Measures and KPIs:
- Provision of services to the business on a timely and accurate basis including payroll, supplier payments, intercompany billing, employee expenses, fixed assets and ERP master data.
- Internal & external reporting and compliance delivered accurately and on time – Management Accounts, Financial statements, Corporation tax, VAT and employment tax returns.
- Robust internal controls and financial governance.
Objectives and responsibilities:
- Management, development and maximising the performance of a team of 15 people.
- Review of internal management reporting including journals, balance sheet recs, management accounts, plans and forecasts.
- Review of external reporting including statutory financial statements, Corporation tax, VAT and employment tax returns.
- Preparation of some elements of the statutory financial statements and forecast/plan balance sheet.
- Approval of payroll and supplier payments.
- Ownership of the UK shared service and intercompany recharge processes and reporting.
- Working with project teams to deliver the financial aspects of business led initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with new internal and external reporting requirements including changes in accounting standards.
- To support with the implementation of a new ERP system.
- Key point of contact for internal and external auditors.
Relevant experience and qualifications:
- Professional accountancy qualification with post-qualified experience in practice and industry.
- Strong technical knowledge including IFRS, UK GAAP, Corporation tax and VAT alongside experience of statutory financial statements, VAT returns and corporation tax returns.
- People management and maximising the potential of a team.
- Project Management and working effectively in cross functional projects.
- Delivery of financial process improvements.
- Operation of internal controls and strong financial governance.
- Business partnering with operational or commercial management teams.
- Management accounting and internal reporting.
- Report writing covering business performance.
- Working in a shared services department.
- Payroll and Cash Management.
