The Director of the Media Studio Organization will lead the operations of College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) Media Studios as research support and shared services system, including labs, studios, all staff, budget, and all cost effective investment strategies and decisions. S/he will develop a five-year strategic college wide plan that manages the evolving needs of the College of Arts Media and Design, and collaborate in developing plans for capital investment, research support, and development opportunities; develop and write College-wide reports as requested by Dean’s office, such as, but not limited to, budget allocation and technology usage. S/he will work with staff to leverage production resources to lead faculty and interact with chairs and administration to develop space, curriculum and equipment needs. S/he will also facilitate training in new technologies in the form of open workshops for faculty and/or students, as well as report on new technologies and media studio operations for external constituencies. Perform other projects/duties as needed.
40% Execute the strategic planning for new media technology for CAMD.
Advise the Dean’s office, create and lead appropriate advisory groups. Implement and create programs about cutting edge new technologies and their relevance for CAMD, and putting in place cost effective strategies for renewing and replacing new media technology.
25% Manage and develop all CAMD technical staff. Work with staff to ascertain budgetary needs from all departments and integrate into a CAMD wide short and long range approach to technical needs, support and budget.
15% Manage and conduct technical workshops for students and faculty, and produce presentations and reports as necessary.
15% Develop and implement CAMD wide asset system, integrating all technical equipment, organizing system of day-to- day technical needs that integrate a hierarchy of usage for students and faculty.
5% Additional duties, as needed.
Masters degree is required, a PhD in a relevant discipline is preferred. At least 5 years of experience working with advanced media technologies. Experience working across a wide range of media; management experience, experience setting up and maintaining systems, inventories, databases. Demonstrate ability in budget analysis, establishing and maintaining schedules.
