If you are Human Resources professional seeking a new challenge, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! We are looking for a Director Human Resources, Japan (Country HR Head) who will provide the leadership and strategic direction to the HR team across Shared Services, Center of Excellence (Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development and Total Rewards) and HR Business Partners. You will drive the HR agenda, strategies and services that will attract, engage, empower, develop and retain the best talents.

  • Serve as a strategic HR Business Partner and advisor to the senior leaders in Japan and Asia Pacific region.
  • Formulate and implement integrated HR and people-related strategies that help organization to achieve strategic objectives and thereby increasing its competitive advantage in the competition for talent.
  • Be accountable for talent acquisition, talent management, succession planning, performance management and development, organizational change, total rewards and industrial relations, as well as delivering a flawless and positive employee experience across the entire employee lifecycle while creating new value for the overall organization.
  • Create and implement performance standards for efficient transaction processes that meet the organization’s HR and the business strategic direction so as to optimize HR delivery.
  • Measure and supervise HR metrics, develop and execute plans for performance improvement.
  • Lead and inspire changes in HR processes by implementing new initiatives and constantly challenge the “status quo”.
  • Ensure adherence with internal and external regulatory and control requirements.
  • Lead Emerson Japan HR pivotal initiatives and provide coaching/ guidance to project members.

Shared Services

  • Create and build an employee centric environment in delivering efficient and effective HR services across the organization.
  • Drive standardization and simplification activities across the country HR model.

Business Partners

  • Understand the impact of talent alignment to business needs, identify gaps and prepare for future workforce needs.
  • Act as the voice of the customer to influence HR program design and implementation plans, programs and solutions for the internal customers.
  • Participate in and lead workforce activities related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, outsourcing or restructuring (if any).
  • Create and implement business enabling solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommending courses of action, and seeing through delivery and results.
  • Implement the administration of and provide guidance on HR & talent programs: merit, performance review, performance improvement, talent planning, talent development, succession planning, etc.
  • Handle discussion and suggestion from labor union / employee representative.

Center of Excellence

  • Total Rewards – Align performance management and reward systems to drive and reinforce desired organizational behaviors.
  • Organizational Development – Lead talent planning across all levels of the organization with a focus on development, succession planning and retention.
  • Talent Acquisition – Work closely with business leadership to identify staffing priorities and recruiting strategies to win talents.
  • Minimum 10 – 15 years of relevant experience in a global MNC environment, working at both a strategic and executional level.
  • Ability to understand strategic organizational issues with deep eye for business.
  • Ability to drive HR processes and deliver high quality HR services in a fast paced, highly dynamic and matrix environment.
  • Possess strong leadership and proven track record to influence customers on change initiatives.
  • Ability to build strong, believing relationships at all levels of the organizations across all functions.
  • Process and detail oriented, passionate about continuous improvement and with a service-oriented approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with and influence all organizational levels.
  • Ability to converse in Japanese fluently (speak, read and write).

Preferred Qualification that Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
