  • Act as a strategic HR Business Partner and advisor to senior leadership in Japan and the Asia Pacific region.
  • Devise and implement cohesive HR and people-centric strategies to propel the organization toward its strategic objectives, enhancing its competitive edge in talent acquisition.
  • Take ownership of talent acquisition, talent management, succession planning, performance management, development, organizational change, total rewards, and industrial relations. Ensure a seamless and positive employee experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle, contributing new value to the organization.
  • Establish and implement performance standards for streamlined transaction processes that align with the organization’s HR and business strategic direction, optimizing HR delivery.
  • Monitor and manage HR metrics, crafting and executing plans for continuous performance improvement.
  • Lead and drive changes in HR processes by introducing innovative initiatives and consistently challenging conventional practices.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory and control requirements. Spearhead pivotal initiatives within the Japan HR and provide coaching and guidance to project members.
  • Shared Services: Forge an employee-centric environment for delivering efficient and effective HR services across the organization.
  • Champion standardization and simplification initiatives across the country HR model.
  • Business Partners: Comprehend the impact of talent alignment on business needs, identify gaps, and prepare for future workforce requirements.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer, influencing HR program design and implementation plans, programs, and solutions for internal customers.
  • Participate in and lead workforce activities related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, outsourcing, or restructuring.
  • Develop and implement business-enabling solutions by gathering and analyzing information, recommending courses of action, and ensuring successful delivery and results.
  • Implement and provide guidance on HR and talent programs: merit, performance review, performance improvement, talent planning, talent development, succession planning, etc.
  • Handle discussions and suggestions from the labor union/employee representative.
  • Center of Excellence: Total Rewards – Align performance management and reward systems to drive and reinforce desired organizational behaviors.
  • Organizational Development – Spearhead talent planning across all levels of the organization, emphasizing development, succession planning, and retention.
  • Talent Acquisition – Collaborate closely with business leadership to identify staffing priorities and devise recruiting strategies to attract top-tier talent.

Seeking a candidate with a minimum of 10-15 years of pertinent experience in a global MNC setting, adept at operating strategically and tactically. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a profound understanding of strategic organizational issues, navigate HR processes proficiently, and deliver top-notch HR services in a fast-paced, dynamic, and matrix environment. Strong leadership capabilities, a proven track record of influencing change initiatives, and the ability to cultivate robust relationships at all levels and across functions are essential. The candidate should be process-oriented, detail-focused, and enthusiastic about continuous improvement, approaching the role with a service-oriented mindset. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with fluency in Japanese and business-level English, are prerequisites.
