We are recruiting for a Head of Business Shared Services to lead our Property and Health and Safety team in Skipton. We have circa 100 rental and freehold properties throughout the UK which require first class 24/7 support. The successful candidate will be accountable for all property and health and safety related matters which are critical to the seamless running of the business throughout the UK. Our properties are maintained and refurbished to a high standard on a rolling programme with branches relocated to new sites that meet our fast moving business requirements.   • Oversee the planning and execution of property acquisitions, disposals and leasehold agreements ensuring maximum value.
  • Lead the management of all the Society’s properties maximising utilisation and ensuring they are maintained.
  • Manage the facilities to guarantee a safe, efficient and comfortable environment for all colleagues and visitors.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including landlords, Architects, Consultants and Contractors ensuring all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with other internal departments to identify property requirements ensuring alignment with the business strategy.
  • Lead, manage and develop the Business Shared Services team ensuring a high performance culture
  • Proven track record in a similar senior property management role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of property planning, facilities and estate management principles and best practices.
  • “Member” of a professional body such as RIBA, RICS, CIOB, IWFM or CIBSE
  • Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Clear understanding of legal and regulatory aspects of property and facilities management
  • Experience with drafting and dealing with JCT style building contracts.
  • Excellent working knowledge of CDM and Construction Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge and experience of Health and Safety, first aid, medical, fire safety, risk management regulations and requirements – Ideally NEBOSH qualified.
  • Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to manage relationships both internally and with external consultants and contractors creating a high performance culture.
  • Understanding the need to prioritise the need for carbon reduction working towards net zero objectives.
  • Ability to detect early warning signs of service/contractor underperformance.
