In this exciting and challenging position, you will lead a team of talented IT professionals responsible for designing, developing, and delivering cutting-edge digital health solutions that transform patient care and elevate our Trust to the forefront of technological advancement.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the in-house application development teams and DBAs, ensuring alignment with the Trust’s Digital Health and IM&T Strategies.
- Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from conception to deployment and maintenance, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, user-centric solutions.
- Collaborate closely with various teams such as Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security and RPA and Automation to collaborate and safeguard the Trust’s core Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other in-house developed products.
- Guide the evolution of the Trust’s in-house developments and architecture, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Proven track record of success in leading and managing complex IT development teams.
- A strategic mindset, coupled with the ability to translate business requirements into innovative and effective technology solutions.
- Passion for innovation and a commitment to continuous improvement in the healthcare technology landscape.
Essential
- Educated to master’s level, an equivalent professional qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience, within an IT discipline or similar.
- Demonstrates in depth professional knowledge in information systems, staff management, project management acquired through training and experience over a significant period to master’s degree Level.

Experience
Essential
- Experience of working at a senior management level within a large and complex organisation.
- Experience of delivering services within a Shared Services environment
- Proven senior operational management of IT staff groups.
- Budgetary control
- Customer focused.
- Extensive knowledge of operating systems, systems security, and database management.
- Extensive knowledge of DevOps / TFS or similar.
- Has wide and detailed IT knowledge.
- Experience of TOGAF engineering principles.
- Detailed experience of development tools such as C# asp.net, SQL Server
- Demonstrates the ability to make, and take responsibility for, sound and far-reaching decisions on major technical and service delivery issues.
- Is familiar with all aspects of IT service delivery.
- Displays up to date knowledge of significant areas of operational and/or development environments.
- Shows a thorough understanding of applicable project management and/or operational management standards and procedures including technical, quality, safety, and financial matters across all areas of service delivery.
- Possesses a thorough understanding of the business and commercial context of the organisation.
Desirable
- Highly specialised relevant and in-depth knowledge and experience of IT functionalities in the NHS and a proven record of delivering high quality IT services to both clinical and non clinical users.
- Extensive experience in delivering complex and high-profile IT programmes and strategy on behalf of NHS organisations.
- Demonstrable senior fiscal management experience for large and multiple IT departments Blue Prism RPA solutions
- Experience of working in a senior role within Public Sector IT
- Project and Programme management principles e.g., MSP/PRINCE 2/Agile
- Project Management experience using Agile methodologies using MS-Project, JIRA, DevOps, TFS
