As a senior controller you are part of the Budget & Reporting team (15 FTE) in the Planning Control & Analysis department. The Budget & Reporting team works as a controller for the Board of Directors and has a framework-setting, directing function for the decentralized control departments in the divisions. The team consists of eight controllers who advise on business economic issues for an organizational unit and a group of controllers who coordinate the planning and control process for the entire organization. A vacancy has arisen in this last group.
Amsterdam, 36-38 hours
- Your first area of focus is the UWV-wide budget for equipment costs (approximately € 2.3 billion). You keep an overview of the structure of this budget.
- You coordinate the budget process within UWV and issue frameworks and guidelines to the organizational units for the budget products.
- You proactively advise colleagues during budget time.
- You periodically inform the FEZ and Board of Directors about the operating balance, with a sharp future-oriented view.
- You come up with suggestions to improve work processes and keep an overview of finances.
- You regularly coordinate with the Ministry of Social Affairs about the development of the budgetary framework and the UWV reserves.
- In addition to its regular tasks, UWV has a major change challenge every year as a result of new legislation and regulations, modernization of the IT landscape and new social tasks (for example implementation of the NOW scheme). These changes have an impact on regular business operations and budget.
- You regularly coordinate this with portfolio controllers who keep this change task under control.
The most important activities are:
- Advising the FEZ management on control issues;
- Preparing the financial section in the monthly report to the Board of Directors;
- Assessing budget issues of the organizational units;
- Ensure clear frameworks and instructions for the budget process for (decentralized) controllers;
- Support in keeping an overview and monitoring the risks;
- Writing the financial paragraph for UWV’s external annual plan;
- Replacing fellow controllers during holidays and/or illness;
- Collaborate on the realization of the products of the Budget & Reporting team.
- Completed academic education (Business Economics/Controlling).
- At least five years of relevant work experience, including knowledge of business operations, preferably in the field of (semi-) government organizations. Relevant experience within UWV is an advantage.
- You can easily deal with systems and we don’t have to tell you anything about Excel.
- You are a self-starter who is used to finding your own way in less well-defined assignments.
- You have an impact as an advisor at board level.
- You have the gift of making complex things simple.
- You work in a structured way and you can distinguish between main and secondary issues.
- You are results-oriented and you have strong problem-solving skills.
- You have a well-developed organizational sensitivity with a broad focus on collaboration, even in the event of resistance.
- In addition to strong oral communication skills, you also have a fluent pen and experience in writing notes.
