The Director of Finance and Administration, EVPFA directs the daily and long-term financial and/or administrative operations of the Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration (EVPFA) organization and serves as the primary fiscal and administrative officer for EVPFA and other divisions within University Administration, such as University Relations, Student Success, and Regional Campuses and Online Education.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Serves as the strategic fiscal partner to the EVPFA leadership team.
- Manages payroll and financial administration support staff within the UA-FNSS department.
- Serves as the primary Fiscal Officer/Fiscal Approver for EVPFA and other divisions within University Administration.
- Prepares, implements, and monitors budgets for EVPFA and other divisions within University Administration.
- Leads fiscal planning to advance the success of supported divisions.
- Creates and maintains internal revenue and expense reports, budget and financial performance summaries, and financial projection models for supported divisions and their individual operating units.
- Develops and adheres to finance, budget, and other administrative policies and procedures.
- Directs the management of all revenue sources which may include general funds, endowment, federal and non-federal grants and contracts, and gift funds.
- Designs and prepares regular management reports detailing the operations and budget performance and financial forecasting for the organization.
General Responsibilities
- Directs the daily and long-term financial and/or administrative operations of multiple university units or an unusually large multi-faceted academic, research, and teaching department within a school or college.
- Responsible for accuracy, timelines, and the general integrity of the Financial Administration family, and fiscal, policy, and internal control management.
- Creates annual revenue and expenditure budget for a large school/college. Develops budgetary policies and procedures.
- Develops models and provides recommendations to executive leadership for resource allocations and to enhance financial performance.
- Develops and introduces growth strategies and identifies risks.
- Monitors division and campus budgets and reports any significant deviations from approved budgets.
- Controls all expenditures and statement of accounts to ensure regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
- Directs the management of general appropriation, endowment, federal and non-federal grants and contracts, and gift funds.
- Develops, plans, and directs special projects, which may include space renovations, space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases, long-range plans, leasing of off-campus space and services.
- Provides leadership and direction through other managers.
- May oversee and direct variety of human resources activities including employment, labor relations, benefits, training, and classification for unit(s)/campus.
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field
Preferred
- Master’s degree

- Ability to understand and interpret financial policies, regulations, and pertinent state/federal laws
- Advanced knowledge of financial statements and different budgetary models; ability to apply in different situations
- Knowledge of human resources laws and procedures as related to managing staff; Knowledge and understanding of the importance of mentors and mentorships
