The Land and Air Systems activity designs systems, equipment, sensors and services for civil and military air traffic control, air defense as well as naval and land combat. The Vélizy site brings together the shared services activities of the group, the Learning Hub (Group training center) as well as Géris (Thales local economic development company, www.geris.fr).

  • Define the technical strategy for its scope, by contributing to defining the Product Policy, in particular for everything relating to technical and technological aspects, and by preparing and managing the self-financing plan (SFRD) for its scope;
  • Prepare the technical component of the SBP;
  • Supervise the organization of the Design Authority mission within its scope, by being the guarantor of its deployment, by supervising its operation, by being the ultimate Design Authority within its scope;
  • Contribute directly to technical expertise on targeted files with the creation and supervision of ad-hoc expert committees depending on the issues encountered;
  • Participate in defining the Group’s technical strategy in terms of technological aspects, tools and development methodologies;
  • Participate in the expertise recognition process at all levels of the Group’s R&D organization;
  • Implement R&T and innovation actions within its scope: coordination of ad-hoc technical committees in order to measure progress, validate, redirect R&TI work if necessary;
  • Contribute to the management of R&D professional families within its scope;
  • Ensure the implementation of the intellectual property strategy and the process of protecting and managing it within its scope;
  • Guarantee compliance with the provisions of the Code of Ethics and the Code of Conduct within the framework of the above missions;
  • Supervise cross-functional R&T/R&D cooperation actions with French (DGA/AID, etc.), European (FED/AED, multilateral projects) and international (NATO/NIAG, etc.) organizations with involvement consistent with product policy.
  • You hold an engineering degree (Electronics, Aeronautics/Space, IT, etc.) or a Master 2 (BAC +5) or more (PhD type).
  • You have significant and recognized experience in Research & Technology/Research & Development (ideally in aerospace, defense, IT/telecommunications) with the conduct of digital transformation and require a very good understanding of your environment (operational processes of development and support, commercial activity products).
  • You have the soul of a leader, wishing to supervise all technical aspects of the company and provide adequate support to your scope.
  • You are growth oriented and enjoy managing the implementation of innovative ideas.
  • The job requires excellent abilities to:
    • Understand the issues and integrate or build a strategy
    • Master all technical aspects related to the activity: in-depth knowledge of relevant engineering tools, methods, standards and processes, product engineering, life cycles and life cycle processes, definition of architecture, definition of Engineering Governance
    • Conduct market research and use it to identify developments and monitor technological advances
    • Mastery of risk and opportunity management
    • Knowledge of law, intellectual property, export control
    • Be growth oriented and manage the implementation of innovative ideas
    • Simplify complexity and develop a helicopter vision (macro & micro)
    • Ability to share a compelling vision
