Joining GBS GL Accounting Team means becoming part of a team of dedicated professionals collaborating with process owners globally. We’re seeking a General Ledger Manager who will drive and deliver excellence in Jacobs.
The purpose of this role will be managing and overseeing the general ledger and month-end close activities being in scope of the Krakow GBS GL teams.
- Manage 2-4 direct reports, including team leaders responsible for overseeing various GL processes.
- Oversee the ongoing development of accounting-related processes, improvements, and policies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to standardize and enhance efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements for all entities and processes in scope.
- Lead the preparation and review of balance sheet account reconciliations, identifying and recording adjusting entries in a timely manner.
- Manage the month-end close process, including the preparation and review of journals, and other related procedures such as flux analysis.
- Provide information to management through research, report preparation, presentations, and communication of findings and recommendations.
- Perform technical accounting analysis and research to ensure proper accounting for unusual or complex transactions.
- Act as a strategic partner for the migration of work to GBS centers, participating in transitions and driving process stabilization efforts within the assigned scope.
- Establish highly collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across various departments.
- Recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency and quality of the accounting function.
- Provide documentation and prepare schedules to support both internal and external SOX and financial audits.
- Lead, motivate, and coach the team to deliver excellent results, supporting employee engagement, professional development, and retention.
- Actively engage and participate in Jacob’s initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
- At least 7-10 years of experience in a general ledger/finance/accounting role, including several years of people management experience.
- Good working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC requirements.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workloads, multi-task, and meet required deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for direct interaction with external auditors, senior management, and various functional groups.
- Ability to build positive working relationships and effectively work with all levels of an organization and diverse global cultures.
- Strong leadership skills in motivating and developing subordinates.
