We are seeking an Operations Director to support the continued expansion of the GBS Process Solutions Team and the scaling of process improvement, process automation and insights across AstraZeneca. This role will report to the Head of GBS Process Solutions and work with GBS, IT, and Finance team members in leading a small team to implement and monitor portfolio reporting, performance/KPIs, financial tracking, and adherence to internal quality standards. The Operations Director will act as a key enabler to all Process Solutions service delivery and capability towers, ensuring optimal team delivery performance as well as generating/embedding solutions to accelerate overall service deliver whilst reducing operational costs.
The Operations Director will be part of the Process Solutions leadership team and will chip in to the team’s overall growth, service delivery strategy, and operating model – including broad team engagement and communication strategies.
- Lead Process Solution’s overall performance measurement and value reporting across scorecard KPIs (ie. $$ savings, hours saved, productivity, CSAT, budget management, and more)
- Be responsible for and optimize organizational effectiveness, driving standardization and simplification, and establishing a cohesive approach to key business activities such as:
- Driving consistent Process Solutions governance framework across service lines and capability leads, including partnering with Finance and AZ IT collaborators
- Developing Process Solutions approach to communication and training
- Proactively addressing critical business issues impacting multiple Process Solutions service lines
- Act as chief of staff to the Head of Process Solutions
- Help incubate strategic ideas and provide early facilitation
- Act as a trust advisor and partner to LT members
- Provide insights and recommendations on business strategy and performance
- Support Head of Process Solutions in preparation of critical leadership presentations, proposals, financial planning, and performance reporting
- Manage day to day critical BAU operations including but not limited to: financial recharges, process documentation, value tracking and management, GBS reporting requirements, analysis on project delivery performance/customer surveys and more
- Collaborate with and support team members to drive data quality and accuracy of project details
- Own key initiatives/projects in support of Process Solutions 3 year roadmap.
Essential requirements:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject
- Strong business data and financial competence with previous budget accountability of $MM
- Sophisticated knowledge of Excel; proficient with other MS business applications (Teams, PowerPoint, Word).
- Knowledge of any data analysis/reporting software and project management tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Energetic and self-motivated with a can-do attitude and willingness to take the initiative.
- Excellent organisational skills and an ability to handle deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Strong collaborative attitude with demonstrated success working in a distributed team environment
- Exceptional attention to detail with big-picture strategic attitude
- English language proficiency, both oral and written
Desirable:
- Familiarity with standard project/system delivery frameworks, process improvement methodologies, agile development methods or IT management procedures
- Basic knowledge of Dashboarding (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) and analytical scripting languages (VBA, Python, SQL)
- Understanding or interest in automation technologies, including Robotic Process Automation (e.g., Automation Anywhere), workflows (e.g., Power Automate), Process Mining (e.g., Celonis).
