Product Development

  • Contribute towards development of the mid to long-term product solution portfolio and implementation road map, including assessment of the resources required to achieve the objectives and plan.
  • Product solutions suite include all B2B payment (issuing) and acceptance (acquiring) solutions and not limited to: charge / credit / debit / prepaid / virtual cards, e-wallets, QR solutions and payment acceptance technology to support the closed-loop solutions for Ecosytem Financing services programs (this would entail close collaboration with the Retail Merchant Acquiring team to leverage on appropriate merchant acceptance capabilities).
  • Responsible for end-to-end product solution development, product approvals (internal and external), project management and full rollout plan (including but not limited to market scanning, product solution proposition, pricing & positioning, target market, system and user requirements study, budgetary approvals, system testing, product documentation design, card & communication collateral, negotiate with business partners such as Insurance providers, P&L, go-to-market strategy, SOPs, product Policies & Procedures).
  • Development must be supported by structured research and market scanning for insights, knowledge of competitive & industry trends, benchmarks, best practices and market size to form sound business case and product strategy.
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders (and subject matter experts) to deliver against the common objective of driving the best-in-class operating and technology model to support the multifaceted cards business, which is cross-functional and cross-divisional. This includes the Retail division, BUs – Corporate, Commercial & SME Banking, Technology, Implementation and Client Services, Operations, Regulatory Reporting, Legal, Compliance, Audit, Risk, MIS, Credit & Recovery, Call Centers/Customer Resolution Unit and iCIMB. *Operating model is based on shared services covering areas such as data entry, management of card perso vendor, card collateral & fulfillment, fraud & chargeback, AML alerts and transaction handling, customer service & resolution, collections, system support, business support for card scheme settlements and reporting, MIS for regulatory & card scheme reporting. 
  • Close collaboration with BUs on the respective credit programs / framework for respective client segments.
  • Partner closely with the key stakeholders and Clients for customizable solutions and programs, as the subject matter expert.
  • Propose to the Head on price points of respective product solutions.
  • Develop and execute clear policies, procedures, SOPs (with clear SLAs) to facilitate smooth running of all operational support, including management of production issues and the escalation process.
  • Ensure product solution delivery undergoes QA testing with good results and minimum system gaps, and this includes full test strategy on system delivery by the QA team.
  • Ensure project implementation timelines, targets and budgets are achieved.
  • Collaborate with the IT Project Manager in ensuring end-to-end compliance with project governance – approvals, kick-off, working & steering committee meetings, project milestone updates, deployment, project closure and capitalisation.
  • Conduct new and refresher product solution trainings to all stakeholders.

Product Management

  • Responsible for product management deliverables which covers product & go-to-market strategies, product utilization, profitability, retention and the execution of effective campaigns/promotions/programs to support the deliverables.
  • Foster closer collaboration with BUs and business development/ distribution channels to deliver financial results and plans to drive business growth e.g. cross-selling to ETB and acquisition of NTB base.
  • Identify and validate possible reasons for performance variances through data analysis, contact with front liners, focus group discussions etc. Develop, propose and execute actionable initiatives to successfully address variances.
  • Continuously support business development team, RMs and distribution channels in selling and retooling of product and solutions knowledge. Likewise, to always render Client management support to ensure queries, requests, issues are promptly addressed or resolved.
  • Provide product expertise/input for any Client’s bespoke requirements and RFP submissions.
  • Work with MIS/Analytics team(s) to prepare portfolio performance report to Management and key stakeholders (e.g. new cards, total cards in force, activation and activity rates, sales through-put, attrition, fraud statistics/trends, collections/bad debts) including market share insights as well as prevailing market trends/threats/opportunities and identify actionable initiatives to address impact.
  • Assess and analyse the effectiveness of product solutions in delivering against customer needs, relative to the competitive landscape. Keep strong pulse on evolving industry trends and technologies to identify opportunities for quick adoption of new technologies to drive new product development, proposition or product enhancements, as well as partnerships for commercial opportunities. Prepare product solutions/initiatives updates for periodic product review with team/ management.
  • Manage and build on relationships with external stakeholder / industry players for example card schemes (MasterCard/VISA etc.), business partners such Insurance, Airlines etc. (for product proposition) and bring partnerships to the next level in terms of support, collaboration for respective product/program growth.
  • Manage all product and marketing communication collaterals/materials (both internal and external) and ensure compliance of regulatory, card schemes, internal policy requirements.
  • Monitor and verify vendors’/suppliers’ invoices to ensure timely and accurate disbursements.
  • Ongoing engagement with key internal stakeholders to ensure smooth running of the operations as highlighted above (point#5 – Product Development), and to continuously and collectively, review processes and identify areas for improvements/enhancements.
  • Ensure monitoring and timely review of Partners/Vendors’ Agreements and other system/product/operational/compliance periodic assessments (e.g. SOPs, P&Ps, system criticality, user access, BCP) as governed by respective policies, in consultation and collaboration with respective stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Regulatory / Compliance / Audit / Risk

  • Ensure respective product/initiative delivery compliance with regulatory requirements, CIMB policies & procedures, and the Department’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure minimum gaps or operational risks in the product solution and operational processes.
  • Maintain good relationship and work closely with regulator and compliance officers to ensure that product solution gaps are minimal, appropriate process controls are in place and meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Completion of regulatory/compliance/audit/risk surveys or preparation of responses to the queries.
  • Performing gap analysis for establishing and articulating controls for each line item related to BNM Guidelines / Policy Documents etc.
