AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Omnichannel Project Excellence Manager to join its Global Business Services Commercial Operations team. The successful candidate will be working closely with the Senior Director Business Services Content and Omnichannel Operations and his leadership team.

(1) Owning the PMO (Portfolio Management Office)

  • Set up and own portfolio governance and review, recommending any tools and templates for the team to use.
  • Develop templates needed for reporting throughout the project life cycle, optimising the same based on collaborator feedback
  • Coordinate the overall portfolio of team projects, initiatives and activities, monitoring progress and ensuring delivery against objectives, achievements and KPIs.
  • Ensure clear visibility of the status of all activities and flag any potential risks so that they can be addressed as early as possible. Support any blocking issues through to resolution.
  • Archive and evaluate project outcomes and optimise processes for future projects.
  • Organise and facilitate team meetings and events.
  • Record decisions made, alignment agreed, issues raised and next steps covered in meetings.
  • Generate required reports for the leadership team on a timely basis.

(2) Acting as Project Manager for strategic team projects

  • Manage functional projects that are medium / high complexity and risk.
  • Ensure organisational change is considered from the outset of the project and work closely with collaborators as they design the solution; you will lead the conversations and ask the right questions to ensure the best strategic decisions are made for the organisation.
  • Work with the project team to create and execute detailed project plans where appropriate and revise them to meet changing needs, requirements and emerging risks to ensure achievements are met effectively and efficiently.
  • Identify actions needed to progress plans and assign individual responsibilities, driving accountability for completion.
  • Maintain relationships with key business collaborators and ensure that business requirements are effectively collected, and the impact of the project are understood by the business.

(3) Driving innovation in our vendors (US focus)

  • Connect regularly with the Vendor Director, her team and the US Vendor Associate in particular, to understand the external landscape, any new innovations and trends, and opportunities for improvement and automation.
  • Act as PM for the delivery of any improvement projects associated with our vendor partners supporting our US teams.
  • Ensure any changes made are reflected in our formal agreements, allowing future flexibility in case it is required.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience associated with supporting large organizations in a role associated with PMO
  • Demonstrated experience of successful PMO leadership and project management, with a formal Project Management qualification / certification.
  • Trusted to deliver, highly organized, disciplined and has a high level of attention to detail
  • Able to multi-task under pressure. Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, often working on projects simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical / healthcare industry, market dynamics and major AstraZeneca business drivers
  • Proven collaborator management. Demonstrated ability to build credibility and strong relationships with internal and external collaborators and facilitate key discussions
  • Demonstrated capability in working collaboratively, critical thinking and problem solving using communication styles that are appropriate for the situation and collaborators
  • Confirmed experience working to understand and evaluate sophisticated business processes and driving process optimization initiatives
  • Commercially astute
  • Analytical and inquisitive
  • An agile thinker, open to new ideas and able to quickly design and implement entrepreneurial customer focused solutions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in business English.

  • Digital Marketing services experience
  • Knowledge of Omnichannel enabling technology platforms and how they are leveraged to enable various aspects of a customer experience
  • Experience of working with and managing suppliers / third parties
  • Experience of working with brand teams, IT teams and other key internal business departments
  • Hands-on experience working with tools including Jira and Smartsheets.
