I’m partnered with the VP of Finance at a billion dollar leading food & beverage manufacturer near Itasca, IL that is excited to bring on an experienced Controller to the team!
My client offers a variety of solutions to all the major food & beverage manufacturers globally! Due to the major growth my client is experiencing, they are looking for a Cost Controller to join the team and take full ownership of their business in the US, Europe, Mexico, and Canada.
The Cost Controller will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the financial aspects of all manufacturing operations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the manufacturing processes are efficient and cost-effective while maintaining the highest standards of quality. You will work closely with Executive leadership within Supply Chain, Procurement, Production, etc. to analyze costs, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to optimize manufacturing expenses.
Not only will you be able to bring your breadth of experience to partner with the executive team to drive toward continuous improvement for costs within the business unit as it operates today, but you will also partner with the VP of Finance to pursue long-term strategic initiatives such as implementing a General Accounting Shared Services team and establishing a true Center of Excellence for the Global Accounting team.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and expenses to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports detailing production costs, labor expenses, material usage, and overhead costs.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management to facilitate decision-making and cost control strategies.
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams to develop manufacturing budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and forecasted figures.
- Identify deviations and work with stakeholders to address discrepancies and mitigate risks.
- Identify opportunities to streamline manufacturing processes and reduce costs without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes and make adjustments as necessary.
- Aid in establishing a General Accounting Shared Services team as a long-term initiative
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Food & Beverage experience highly desired
- Shared services experience is a plus!
- 10+ years of experience in Accounting
- 3+ years minimum of Cost Accounting experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- ERP systems experience preferred – JD Edwards, SAP, Concur, etc.
