The Vice President, US Finance works alongside the Executive Vice President of Global Finance and key Executive team members to drive business growth and profitability through effective financial management, planning, forecasting, reporting, systems, and controls for the U.S. business. Additionally, the Vice President, US Finance works as a key leadership team member of the U.S. Site Leadership Teams – in Seattle and Colorado, business partnering with the General Managers of sites to ensure efficient and effective Finance operations.

  • Lead, manage, and coach both the Seattle-based Accounting and Finance team & also the Accounting/Finance Shared services function managing our Colorado sites. Structure, resource and inspire staff to maximize productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, and teamwork.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accurate, timely, and robust systems for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and control.
  • Ensure system output is well structured, reliable, and easily understood.
  • Interpret operating results and make recommendations for improved profitability, return on investment, working capital, and other financial indicators.
  • Oversee cash flow planning, forecasting, cost controls, and expense targets, ensuring the availability of funds as needed.
  • Actively participate in short- and long-term financing strategies and activities.
  • Develop and utilize forward-looking predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on company legal matters, compliance, and financial controls pertaining to Finance/Accounting.
  • Serve as a fully contributing member of the Seattle Leadership Team & Global Financial Leader network working cross-functionally with other sites
  • Serve as the financial liaison for the site operations working alongside the Seattle site leadership team
  • Ensure that the organization’s accounting records are maintained in accordance with established legal, regulatory (e.g. tax), and company standards.
  • Ensure maintenance and appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and useful financial and management reporting for both internal and parent company (AGC Japan)
  • Oversee the coordination of financial audits, SOX Controls, and the proper filing of tax returns.
  • Actively monitor financial risks and ensure that risk mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Manage relationships with external tax consultants, auditors, bankers, and insurance representatives.
  • Identify key priorities and problems, obtain relevant information, identify root causes, and generate alternative solutions to reach sound management decisions.

Education/Experience

  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, or Accounting required.
  • 14+ years experience in a management role, preferably in life sciences.
  • Expertise in IFRS/GAAP accounting standards is a must.
  • MBA is strongly preferred.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
