The Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI), a progressive new entity within the University of Edinburgh, is searching for a Deputy Chief Operating Officer to steer the operational and financial strategies of our multidisciplinary institute. Situated in the beautifully restored, Grade A-listed former Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in the heart of the city, we are creating a new environment for learning, teaching, research and engagement, side-by-side with communities, business and industry and governments. We aim to generate positive social impact locally, regionally, nationally and globally through ethical data-driven research and innovation.

The Deputy Chief Operating Officer provides leadership across EFI’s professional shared services priority areas, including facilities management, culture and community support, communications, marketing and events and finance. The post-holder will also be responsible for the continuous development of an ambitious resourcing and sustainability model that supports EFI’s growth ambitions whilst defining a suitable project management methodology that drives surplus generation and impact against a set of ambitious deliverables.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent management and development experience in a values-led organisation. You will be able to handle and prioritise a diverse portfolio of responsibilities in a challenging and complex environment to help us to build a vibrant, exciting and fun environment that energises, responds and creates new futures.
