We are currently recruiting for a Senior Procurement Manager to join the Finance Unit on a continuing (permanent) basis. The Senior Procurement Manager reports to the Head of Shared Services and works closely with the senior executive and leaders across the University on a day to day basis.
The Senior Manager Strategic Procurement is responsible for the strategic direction of the Procurement function and delivering substantial strategic and financial benefit to the University.
This is a specialist role at a time of significant focus on the uplift of the procurement function at the University. It will be responsible for continuing to develop the maturity of our procurement function across the University and will take a leadership position in design of the function with technology advancements (including ERP). The span of procurement includes development and execution of Procurement strategy, leadership of the procurement team (presently 4 direct reports), driving a shift to category management, supporting procurement activities, policy, governance and probity matters across the University. Our growing legislative reporting on Modern Slavery, Indigenous and ESG all expand the required leadership of the function, and the need for expertise in the development of the procurement function within a new ERP environment.
The role is required to manage senior level stakeholders internally and externally, and responsible for driving initiatives across all functions of the University.This includes directly liaising with Directors, Deans, ULT, COO, Provost and influencing at times emotive, confidential and challenging projects or options.
- a dynamic, positive, professional, service orientation and client-focus approach while managing the varied demands of the leadership team;
- an ability to work in fast-paced team environment;
- vast experience managing a team of category managers in a forming function
- well-developed diplomatic and communication skills and the ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality, professionalism and sensitivity; and
- previous experience in a similar role or similarly complex and senior roles.
