We are in search of a human resources expert to join us as Head of People Shared Services.

In this new role, you’ll be supporting our Director of People Experience in the development and implementation of a quality People Directorate Shared Service, delivering professional HR and Payroll services across the organization.

This is a permanent, full time role, working hybrid at our office in London (a short walk from King’s Cross); this is flexible but will be approximately 1 day a week to begin with.

Support the Director of People Experience in the development and implementation of a People Directorate Shared Service that delivers professional HR and Payroll services to the organization. Focused on planning, implementing, and improving a quality specialist support service for the broader People Directorate and wider organization that meets the needs of RNIB services and strategies.

Financial responsibility: The post-holder will not be a budget holder, but will work closely with Finance Business Partners, Reward, Payroll, and Pension teams when decisions have an impact on directorate budgets.

  • Ensure best practice business and HR principles, protocols, systems, and structures are in place, including the effective and efficient use of resources that align with the strategic objectives and principles of RNIB.
  • Redesign the current people administration functions to provide a new and improved People shared services function, with a focus on developing team capability and ways of working that delivers improved end to end processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the People Leadership Team to inform the design and delivery of HR processes and programmes to ensure alignment with organisational priorities and demands.
  • Lead the continuous improvement and innovation of the People Shared Service ensuring high quality outcomes for the business to meet current and future demands through the delivery of excellent administration practises.
  • Lead the transition from a manual to automated first-line support service.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of all first line HR queries in line with Service Level Agreements, ensuring matters are escalated appropriately and met with the highest levels of customer service.
  • Ensure the team is providing a tiered system of appropriate advice, guidance, and support in dealing with HR matters raised by leaders and by appropriate escalation that is accessible to all employees.
  • Prepare monthly KPIs and reports for the People Experience Director, Chief People Officer, and Executive Leadership team that enables and supports People Directorate’s auditing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with UK+ Northern Ireland employment legislation, policy, systems, and processes to contribute to a culture of quality improvement and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain team metrics to monitor performance and deliver action plans based on customer satisfaction survey results.
  • Create and maintain fit for purpose standardised processes that support a positive employee experience. Changing and adapting to organisational requirements that enhance the People Shared Services function.
  • Oversee the management of Employee Relations cases that are managed by the People Adviser team.
  • Maintain consistency across administration processes to ensure any performance and behavioural standards are maintained.
  • Ensure a positive and proactive relationship with trade union partners.

Desirable:

  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Level 7 CIPD or equivalent HR qualification, MCIPD

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Essential:
    • Significant experience of working as a Head of People Shared Service function
    • Supervisory or management experience in office Administration, Payroll and/or Human Resources functions
    • Experience of overseeing Payroll processing
    • Familiarity with UK employment law
    • Strong influencing and communication skills at senior levels
    • Ability to adapt and flex based on changing circumstances and/or priorities.
    • Ability to develop a solid understanding of organisational requirements and to develop strategies and solutions to drive share service performance.
    • Ability to develop and support the performance of team.
    • Ability to produce information in a structured way for stakeholders, applying sound judgement to identify and make robust commercial decisions.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience of working with unions in collective bargaining agreements
    • Experience of working in agile project sprints to achieve desired outcomes for the organization.
    • Experience in the full Microsoft Office suite and be used to working with HRIS and performance metrics

May be required to travel and attend meetings and training as required. This may involve occasional overnight stays.
