The Assistant Director, under general direction, assists the Director of IT in all aspects of IT Training and Development departmental operations. This includes planning, organizing and directing the department in support of the strategic vision under supervision of the director. This individual provides expertise and guidance for departmental staff in the areas of Instructional Design, Change management, and effective instructional strategies.
- Assist the Director in leading a team tasked with designing, developing and facilitating educational materials and experiences for system member employees on technology-based applications.
- Support the strategic vision for the IT Training and Development department.
- Provide guidance and expert knowledge of training and development to departmental employees.
- Develop guidelines, policies, and standard administrative procedures to support the department’s daily operations.
- Serve as a primary organizer of the A&M System IT Shared Services conference.
- Collaborate with the Director to develop departmental goals, objectives and measurements in support of the IT Shared Services Organization.
- Collaborate with the Director to work with member Human Resources Officers and other administrators to solution problems and solicit feedback on training services provided.
- Design and Develop trainings for Shared Applications such as Workday Human Capital Management, FAMIS (Enterprise Financial System) and reporting tools.
- Advise and consult with OIT and A&M System Office departments on projects to support training and communication initiatives.
- Conduct needs assessments and develop training strategies for targeted A&M System member support.
- Train in person and virtually on various topics both internal to System office and A&M System members.
- Provide Organizational Change Management support for OIT projects.
- Oversee responses to and resolution of second tier customer service tickets; escalate issues as needed.
- Facilitate difficult interactions and escalate issues to the Director when warranted.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Six years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in educational technology or related field.
- Workday experience or other ERS application for Human Capital Management.
- Five or more years of experience teaching technology applications.
