The VP, Information Technology will represent both the Healthcare Shared Services company and the Information Technology department as a liaison with various departments and business units. This role involves leading the IT department team and conveying the company’s technology vision to the rest of the organization, enabling the leveraging of existing and evolving innovations. Acting as the eyes and ears in the business, this individual ensures that the company’s capabilities and direction are conveyed and understood as intended. The VP of IT assists the business in preparing new project requests, communicating the needs in language most understandable to technology professionals. The primary goal is to ensure the organization receives the highest satisfaction from IT services and to maximize the benefits of technology in furthering corporate business goals.

Operational Management

  • Oversee/manage IT operational activities.
  • Oversee/manage facility infrastructure support, including networking, telecommunication, and datacenter.
  • Oversee/manage end-user support activities inclusive of auxiliary operations of the organization’s programs and departments.
  • Act as the Facility Security Officer while adhering to Corporate IT Security team’s standards and direction.
  • Direct and supervise local IT staff.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to IT staff.
  • Ensure that business needs are formalized, tracked, and resolved.
  • Craft effective communication strategies for both IT and the business.

Strategy & Planning

  • Ensure the department’s operational excellence; deliver quality services in accordance with Corporate IT policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Coordinate consultants and project teams in the development of project installation plans.
  • Monitor installation plans with the project manager and report to the C-suite on a weekly basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of new project requests.
  • Articulate and support the direction of the company’s innovations.
  • Create a culture of multiyear strategic planning.

IT Integration and Management

  • Project Governance: Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to ensure proper governance and adherence to timelines.
  • Technology Deployment: Translate organizational goals into technology deployment plans.
  • Advisory Role: Advise and direct organization leadership toward effective, efficient technology solutions to business requirements.
  • Operational Stability: Ensure stable and efficient technology platforms for business units and operations.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance on custom-developed solutions supporting business units and operations.

Financial Management

  • Budget Administration: Administer the department’s budget within budgetary guidelines to contribute to cost-effective operations of the company.
  • Portfolio Management: Lead portfolio management activities to ensure alignment of IT-related expenditures and resources with business priorities.
  • Workload Management: Provide IT demand/workload management to ensure effective use of IT resources.
  • Project Management: Support and utilize effective project management practices, including full SDLC and PMM best practices.

Work Experience, Education, and Certifications

  • University degree in computer science, IT operations, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • ITIL certification is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in IT operations within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience managing multiple vendors and partners in the delivery of IT services to the organization.
  • Broad experience in managing high-risk, high-visibility projects.
  • Proficiency in Excel and various project and portfolio management platforms.
  • Extensive experience with datacenter and IT infrastructure support.
  • Working technical knowledge of Cisco networks and networking.
  • Experience with Microsoft O365 and MS Enterprise.
  • Strong understanding of project, portfolio, OCM, and Agile techniques.
  • Familiarity with the functioning of PMO and CTO steering committees.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Understanding of IT compliance and regulatory requirements in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools.

Work Conditions

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
  • Occasional after-hours and weekend work to perform tasks that cannot be done during business hours and to troubleshoot major system issues.
