The Payroll and Benefits Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll and benefits administration. This role involves managing the payroll process, developing benefits programs, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing strategic direction to the payroll and benefits team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of payroll and benefits practices, and a commitment to providing exceptional employee support.

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees.
  • Manage and lead the payroll and benefits team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and professional development.
  • Develop, implement, and manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain payroll and benefits policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Handle complex payroll and benefits issues and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless payroll and benefits operations.
  • Prepare and analyze payroll and benefits reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Stay current with changes in payroll and benefits laws and regulations and update company policies accordingly.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of payroll tax returns and other regulatory reports.
  • Education pertaining to payroll or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll and benefits management, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll and benefits laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in payroll and benefits software and systems
  • Union experience strong asset
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
