In support of the Physician Services Group Urgent Care Service Line, the Regional Vice President (RVP)/Chief Operating Officer (COO) reports directly to the Urgent Care Service Line COO. The RVP/COO provides leadership and strategic direction for all assigned HCA Divisions/Groups and related HCA affiliated entities.
- Responsible for the maintaining operational excellence in each of the assigned markets across the Urgent Care Service line/assigned region while ensuring that strategic and operational goals of the company are met and that patients and their families receive value during their visits to UC centers.
- Develops and operationalizes a long-range course of action and set of goals within Shared Services to ensure successful realization of the Service Line’s vision and goals that align with HCA and PSG. This includes thinking about long term integration of services across HCA Healthcare.
- Must demonstrate the ability to modify tactics to unique market dynamics while maintaining global understanding of urgent care enterprise strategies.
- Conducts operating reviews, financial/operational/quality focused meetings/calls as needed in order to properly drive initiatives and strategies that help manage the core business.
- Builds and drives sustained revenue growth through execution of growth, quality and financial tactics across markets and/or clinics.
- Ability to optimize team performance through clear communication, resolution and problem solving, operational accountability, team unity, financial accountability and talent development.
- Cultivates talent of local leaders to drive local organizational performance and leads to ongoing excellence and effective growth of the business while maintaining the highest integrity.
- Builds a competitively superior organization by attracting, developing, and retaining talent to ensure that people with the right skills and motivations are in the right places at the right time to meet business needs including performance management and improvement plans.
- Evaluates organizational efficiency / effectiveness, makes recommendations to organizational and process changes as necessary, and implements recommendations to achieve the goals and objectives.
- Builds strategic alliances outside the organization to create business opportunities and execute business strategies.
- Ensures proper alignment with our physician and provider partners, internally and across HCA Healthcare.
- Ability to consistently promote and act in a manner that supports HCA Healthcare’s mission, vision, and values, instilling the company’s DEI aspiration, and develop leadership across the organization.
- Assures each UC market and clinics are in full compliance with HCA and PSG policies, regulations and legal requirements including ethics requirements and expectations.
- In collaboration with UCC Leadership team provides oversight for center acquisition, divestiture, and DeNovo activities.
- Participates in the successful development and timely opening of new UC Markets and clinic locations.
- Strengthens organizational infrastructure and develops leadership pipeline to support future growth of Service Line and Shared Services capabilities.
- Actively participates in and provides executive-level support for Group and division recruitment and retention activities.
- Promotes quality of care by ensuring all centers understand and are actively participating in achieving identified quality and service performance metrics.
- Actively participates as part of the PSG senior leadership team to address planning, budgets, new services, compliance, and other issues.
- Participates in the development and execution of the Service Line business plan.
- Assists the President in collaborative efforts related to the development, communication and implementation of effective strategies and processes.
Education & Experience
- In depth and up to date knowledge of healthcare administration typically acquired through the completion of a Master’s degree, in a business or healthcare related discipline.
- Ten (10) years’ experience in senior or executive leadership, preferably related to ambulatory multi-site organizations, retail health or hospital management.
- Seven (7+) years of experience in Urgent Care or Ambulatory Care setting is preferred.
- Seven (7) years of experience in managing multiple Urgent Care Centers across a wide geographic area, preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.
Special Qualifications
- The RVP/COO must possess a current working knowledge of accrediting organizations, state and federal guidelines, regulations and standards.
- Must demonstrate expertise in negotiation, strategic planning, leading change and possess strong communication skills, business and financial acumen, negotiation skills and exhibit a focus on the patient experience.
- Must be highly skilled in building relationships with providers and employees. Serves as a senior mentor to the leadership team and works to build organizational talent through talent assessment and leadership development.
- The highest degree of integrity, trust and commitment to the Mission & Values of HCA, PSG and the Urgent Care Service Line are required.
