Working in a Shared Services team environment, the Payroll Manager is responsible for leading the team which processes and audits payroll for multiple locations and over 2,300 employees. Duties also include responding to Directors and Supervisor inquiries and issues, keeping current on wage and hour updates as well as expertise on the Payroll software (ADP WFN and eTime). This is also a hands-on payroll position in addition to the leadership responsibilities.
- Maintain and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations and changes to pay rates
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices
- Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
- Develop and facilitate internal audits
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems and procedures.
- Manage payroll staff, duties to include:
- Interview, hire and train new staff in the department
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department, work allocation and problem resolution
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Assists the Shared Services team with special project as requested
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
- 5-10 years of experience of payroll processing, with at least 2+ years of supervisory experience
- Prefer knowledge with ADP Workforce Now and eTime
- Must have thorough knowledge of California wage and hour laws as well as federal government laws as it relates to payroll
- Must be a proactive learner
- Must have a passion for providing excellent customer service
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
- Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
- Impeccable analytical skills and attention to detail required
- Must be able to investigate, document and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional a plus
- Payroll experience in a healthcare environment a plus
