Senior Director, Global (Ex-China) Market Access Early Pipeline

The position will be part of the Global (ex-China) market access shared services team. The position will focus on providing input across the portfolio to early pipeline products / in-licensed assets focused on evidentiary gaps and/ or opportunities in our clinical development program as it relates to enabling broad and in-line with label reimbursement for patients for all critical assets considered or part of our product portfolio.  Where gaps may exist in the evidence, from a payer perspective, the position will work with the market access teams within each region that BeiGene operates, and the commercial and clinical teams to bridge those gaps.

  • Responsible for representing and recommending Market Access considerations with clinical development/others for early assets including Phase 2 to mid-phase 3/registrational trials, then handoff responsibilities to Market Access global and regional roles.  Leading the collection and aggregation of pan-regional feedback.
  • Partner with Commercial, Clinical (R&D), HEOR, and global Market Access teams, as well as the US Market Access Early Pipeline, Product Strategy & Valuation & Business Development (as relevant) to align on early asset value propositions and innovative initiatives to enhance product value stories.  This includes aligning on early asset target product profile and anticipated payer evidentiary needs.
  • Manage and collaborate on current BeiGene portfolio which includes approximately (8) assets, early stage and Phase III product candidates, as well as any relevant products brought to BeiGene through business development.
  • Provides early input into clinical decision making to ensure payer requirements are adequately met through evidence generation and commercial strategy development processes.  This includes supporting regional activities/ requirements for both global and/or regionally specific in-licensed, purchased or pipeline products.
  • Accountable for market access and payer perspective to be reflected in cross functional strategies including product and clinical development, medical affairs, regulatory affairs and commercial.
  • Partner with Health Economics & Outcome Research (HEOR), Real-World Evidence (RWE) and Marketing to ensure robust value proposition and integrated evidence plans are optimized to support global market access and reimbursement.
  • Provide input into clinical development programs, business development and clinical or commercial decisions to ensure that BeiGene captures value, align to what is meaningful to patients and payers, assist in developing a differentiated (TPP), and ensure optimization of evidence to support reimbursement and pricing negotiations, commercial strategy development, including expectations, trends, and risks.
  • Identify specific global HEOR evidence requirements and gaps with cross functional partnership; coordinate to develop studies, models, and tools to support value demonstration and product differentiation for product portfolio and specific indications.
  • Work with cross-functional business partners to develop and support product value proposition to optimize access, reimbursement, and uptake throughout the lifecycle of BeiGene products.
  • Accountable for market access and payer perspective globally (including support from US Market Access Early Pipeline) to be reflected in cross functional strategies including product development, medical affairs, regulatory affairs and commercial on all early assets.
  • Working collaboratively with the regional market access leads, provide input into clinical development programs to capture value, align to what is meaningful to patients and payers, ensuring optimization of evidence to support reimbursement and pricing negotiations across all regions in which BeiGene operates.
  • Lead early pipeline consultation processes with payers across all regions (in direct collaboration and partnership with the regions) (e.g., CADTH, NICE, etc.)
  • Work with cross-functional business partners to develop and support product value proposition to optimize access, reimbursement, and uptake throughout the lifecycle of BeiGene products.

Education Required: Undergraduate science degree required.  Post-graduate science degree and/ or MBA preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  No direct supervision, high level of cross functional and pan-regional collaborations with internal stakeholders

  • 12+ years of related pharmaceutical experience is necessary with at least 5 years of direct experience in early asset pipeline/HEOR/Market Access functions.
  • Detailed understanding of global pricing & reimbursement landscape, including the interrelation of various region pricing guidelines, HTA and national reimbursement process and requirements.
  • Strong understanding of regional pricing requirements for coverage and reimbursement with the ability to manage complex cases and successfully address customer objections and questions.
  • Knowledge of health technology assessment methods / health economics (HE) modeling is an advantage
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate across multiple cultures and a breadth of functions and levels
  • Analytical competencies to structure complex issues, synthesize key points and communicate and present in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Strategic thinking, initiative, organization, prioritization, and planning skills
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, a second language is an advantage
  • Strong customer focus in cross functional collaborations and teams, strong leadership, and presentations skills with leadership across commercial and finance colleagues.
  • Solid interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills, ability to synthesize data, interpret and translate into compelling and clear commercial strategies and plans.
  • Expertise and understanding of dynamic global market access value models such as value-based propositions and cost effectiveness models, etc.
  • Capability of executing projects in timely fashion, getting things done rapidly.
