AXIS is seeking a Head of Axis Claims Shared Services to join our Global Claims team. As a direct report to the Global Chief Claims Officer, the candidate should possess the ability to lead and develop the Axis Claims Shared Services professionals and should have expertise and experience leading and managing in P&C commercial Claims or reinsurance organizations. This role is responsible for delivering the Shared Services vision and for the operational oversight of the Insurance and Reinsurance claims teams for Axis globally as well as ensuring the efficacy and efficiency of related workflows and processes (e.g., finance, claims payments, data calls and regulatory reporting, Compliance, Quality Assurance/Claim Audits, SIU, Recovery/Subrogation, Litigation Management, Vendor Management and TPA Operations). This role reports to the Global Chief Claims Officer.
This role will be responsible for leading and developing a team of approximately twenty-four professionals in various locations in North America and Internationally and the leader will be responsible for:
- Developing the vision of the Claims Shared Services functions for the Insurance and Reinsurance operations in North America and Internationally and execution of that vision.
- Ensuring superior customer service quality, delivering a holistic contract management process, and developing productivity management and tracking for shared services functions.
- Identifying and mitigating risks, managing, and resolving workflow, operational and any other issues related to the operating environment for Axis.
- Establishing policies, standards, processes, controls, and related documentation of best practices, guidelines, and workflows to ensure a center of excellence within the shared services unit in support of Axis Claims.
- Driving results through methods that include fit for purpose service level agreements, master service agreements, competitive bidding, negotiating, and analyzing data and market trends across all shared services functions, driving innovation and continuous improvement.
- Building and maintaining key relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., peers, Business Technology Services, Procurement, Finance, Underwriting Operations, Underwriting, Legal, Actuarial, various executive management leaders) and external stakeholders (e.g., third party vendors (various types) regulators, auditors, reinsurers, etc.)
- Actively coaching and mentoring direct reports, providing regular feedback, and developing employees for broader roles and responsibilities that support professional growth and development and working collaboratively with HR Business partner support and guidance.
- Recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent and developing appropriate succession plans.

- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and management skills leading cross functional work via collaboration, negotiation, influence, and teamwork involving core operating functions (e.g., claims management, claims operations, real estate, facilities, vendor management, and/or third-party management information risk management, compliance/quality assurance).
- Broad experience working in a P&C Insurer or reinsurer other financial institution with a complex operating environment; international experience is a plus.
- A proven track record of delivering change, and leading change (with and without direct reports).
- Results driven personality and mindset focused on continuous improvement and motivation to build modern, state of the art functional shared services workflows and operational support using both domestic and offshore resources.
- Ability to build modern, state of the art functional workflows and related administrative and operational capabilities for sustainability and growth of Axis Claims.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability and experience reporting and presenting to senior management and the ability and experience preparing business cases and doing cost benefit analyses supporting strategic initiatives impacting key stakeholders.
- Proven prioritization skills with the ability to balance both the immediate needs with broader organizational strategies and related planning and management of same and the impact on stakeholders and the Shared Services team.
- Strong conflict resolution skills to effectively deal with people with differing expectations and viewpoints.
- College or other advanced degree
