MEPTIK is looking for an experienced, full-time Director of Technical Operations to join our expanding team in Atlanta, GA. The Director of Technical Operations is responsible for the management and coordination of all technical operation activities at Meptik. This includes the development and implementation of processes and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Technical Department.
The Director of Technical Operations will also be responsible for the management and development of the tech team, as well as the budgeting and forecasting for the department.
This is a leadership position within not just Meptik, but also the global disguise business. Creative and Technical services are a growing part of the overall disguise group, and some experience, leadership and insight is needed from this figurehead to help shape the future of media and entertainment.
The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience in technical operations management, as well as a proven track record in team development and leadership. They will be well known and well established in their field, and have a bold and ambitious vision of the future of our industries. Functionally, they will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure and find satisfaction in leading a team to deliver on the common goal of creating incredible experiences for our clients.
Day-to-day
- Oversee all aspects of the tech team for assigned projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest possible standards
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and efficient collaboration
- Plan tech team activities, taking into account resource availability and project deadlines
- Monitor progress and performance against targets, taking corrective action where necessary to keep projects on track
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, quality control procedures, and company policies and procedures
Management
- Train and develop staff, providing guidance and support as needed
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external audiences
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers
- Develop and implement budgets for assigned projects
- Source and procure technical equipment and materials
- Manage team’s post-production activities, including project post mortem, client satisfaction analysis, budget reconciliations & expenses etc.
Client-facing
- Bring key projects to the business through existing connections and network
- Support the biz-dev teams to seek new business by lending your insight and guidance
- Refine “the pitch” for clients when seeking new work but also when pitching formed ideas
- Deliver projects successfully but also within budgets and overall P+L
- Use industry knowledge, data and reports available to you to guide the business on how to seek out new opportunities
Evangelise
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
- Keep abreast of new developments in technical production methods and technology, and seek opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Act as brand ambassador for Meptik and disguise, representing the company on panels, in interviews and through published content.
What’s Required:
- Experience leading a team to accomplish deeply technical related goals.
- Experience in managing technically minded projects: system design, live video technologies, media servers.
- Capable and self motivated worker who solves problems before they arise.
- Detailed oriented & ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Is confident working directly with clients of all levels and scales.
- Is comfortable using CRM & project management software.
- Ability to help ideate and formulate project strategies with our team.
- Experience in prior producing, project management, and team roles.
- Experience working in Film, Television, is helpful and a plus.
- Familiarity with realtime design platforms, Unreal, Unity and Notch
- Familiar or design experience in CAD: Vectorworks & AutoCAD
