As Director of Shared Services, you are responsible for developing, leading, and delivering results for a cross functional, centralized team to support the needs of the business in order to create long-term value for the company through efficiency and best practices. This person should be experienced in ensuring systems and internal controls are adequate and can lead projects and leverage technology to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting and operational type processes.
Some examples of the work you might do includes:
- Develops and executes the shared services strategy, aligning it with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
- Leads and manages the shared services function, including accounting, procurement, fleet, and other relevant areas.
- Drives operational excellence by optimizing processes, standardizing workflows, and implementing best practices across shared services functions.
- Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) daily to measure the performance and effectiveness of shared services.
- Identifies opportunities for process automation and the implementation of shared services technologies to drive efficiency and enhance service delivery.
- Develops and manages the shared services budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource allocation in line with business needs.
- Provides effective leadership and oversight to support staff in their current roles. Provides career development support and learning.
- Works with the shared services staff, IT/MIS, and other functional groups to identify, recommend and implement streamlined and automated processes and system improvements.
- Accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected.
- Hires, trains, coaches, and disciplines new hires to ensure work is performed at a high standard of quality.
- Performs all SOX controls related to processes performed through shared services, and assists branches, as needed, with branch-related controls.
- Evaluates staff transactions for accuracy and completeness prior to submitting to the branch level.
- Monitors department activity to ensure all inquiries are resolved appropriately and promptly.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- 5 or more years of previous experience as a leader in a shared services environment.
- Advanced level of technical proficiency and willingness to learn business-specific systems.
- Must be organized, attentive to detail, and able to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
- Ability to maintain quality of work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Capacity to resolve problems independently/under limited supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel occasionally as the business dictates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced education in an Accounting, Business, or related discipline.
- Prior experience with Viewpoint software.
- Prior experience in developing a new shared services environment.
