Reporting to the CAO, the VP, Finance Shared Services will play a critical leadership role in our Finance and Accounting organization. This person will be a strategic thought partner to the CAO, CFO, other business leaders. He/she will lead the Company’s centralized finance services. This leader will be a key element of the Company’s development, implementation and continued use of standardized processes within established policies and procedures.
- Direct all aspects of centralized finance services for the organization, including but not limited to, credit and collections, billing, accounts payable, corporate card, and payroll.
- Oversee the timely and accurate completion of balance sheet reconciliations across the accounting organization.
- Responsible for key support in transactional testing for the timely and successful completion of the annual audit.
- Develop and maintain internal controls, policies and related procedures in his/her area of responsibility.
- Provide support and analysis to the CAO and other accounting leaders on potential accounting standards, creation of new policies and procedures, or revisions to the existing Company policies and procedures.
- Serve as a key partner to senior leadership on strategic initiative discussions by understanding and communicating the accounting and finance implications of various strategies and transactions.
- Continually assess accounting personnel, processes and systems for improvement opportunities, offering recommendations for improvements and implementing new processes or changes to systems in support of accounting and finance objectives.
- Attract, develop, motivate, and manage a high-performing corporate accounting team with steadfast focus on process excellence and continuous improvement.
- An undergraduate degree in accounting is required, with strong preference given to individuals with a master’s degree in accounting or business administration.
- CPA license (active) is preferred, but not required.
- 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant previous experience as a leader in a shared services organization supporting a medium to large business across multiple geographies.
- Strong understanding of process development, standardization and maintenance, including the use of Lean Six Sigma, establishment of and adherence to SLAs, and owning standard policies and procedures.
- Experience with accounting for and integrating businesses as part of M&A transaction strongly desired.
- Experience designing, building, implementing and managing process and system improvement efforts to drive process efficiencies and improved quality, with large ERP (e.g. SAP) experience required.
- Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment balancing accounting and finance strategic objectives with excellent day-to-day process execution by the team.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to link business operations or strategic objectives with accounting activities, convey a message that is clear and concise, and motivate high performance through execution by him/herself and others.
