PIL India Private limited, a 100% subsidiary of PIL PTE LTD (Singapore) has a Shared Services Center in Chennai, India catering to the various principal departments in the Singapore HQ.
These departments include Finance, Operations, Logistics, Process, Customer Service, Analytics, IT etc.
We are seeking a leader for this unit to expand an already existing culture of strong customer service. This position must focus on the transformation of administrative operations to create synergy in business processes, systems, and workflow.
The leader must build a strong team culture internally that instills a sense of pride and provides motivation to employees. The person will work with the senior executive team as well as business and corporate leaders to address the organizations critical focus on enhancing the customer experience, operational discipline and company-wide areas of scalability and efficiency, performance improvement, service enhancement, and product development.
- Responsible for overseeing the overall operations, efficient coordination and delivery of shared services within the PIL HQ & PIL organization.
- Primary goal will be to optimize resource utilization, streamline processes, and maximize cost savings through effective collaboration and shared services implementation.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term strategic plans with relevant stakeholders to accelerate onboarding and aligning it with the organization’s goals and objectives. Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and consolidation to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service, ensuring smooth coordination and efficient service delivery. Develop and implement standardized processes, monitor performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize service efficiency.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Foster effective collaboration and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including departments and business units utilizing shared services. Facilitate regular communication and collaboration to drive shared service initiatives.
- Resource Allocation and Optimization: Optimize resource allocation across shared service functions, ensuring efficient utilization of personnel, technology, and infrastructure. Identify opportunities for cross-functional training and skill development to enhance flexibility and responsiveness.
- Process Standardization and Improvement: Drive process standardization and improvement initiatives within the shared service organization. Streamline workflows, eliminate redundancies, and identify automation opportunities to improve productivity and reduce errors.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage the budget, monitor financial performance, analyze cost trends, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, legal requirements, and company policies. Mitigate risks by implementing appropriate controls and contingency plans.

- Partner with HQ teams to identify right talent and ensure that these talents are in the right position.

Qualifying Criteria

Qualification & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience (10+ years) in business performance management, strategic planning, or a related role within the container shipping industry.
- Strong knowledge of container shipping operations, industry dynamics, and key performance indicators.
- IT savvy and have keen interest in process improvement tools/automation opportunities – Ability to travel
Professional Skill Sets
- Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau, etc.).
- Knowledge in Liner Shipping and/or related industries preferred
- Successful experience implementing Six Sigma/5 S methodologies a plus
