We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior HR professional to join our strategic team as a Head of People & Organisational Development!

In this role, your general role and responsibilities will be developing and delivering the People & OD Strategy, leading on the Equalities, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) strategy, delivery of projects and team management.

When joining us, the priorities that you’ll be focussing on through 2023/2024 will be:

  • HR Policy Review – Produce a suite of policies into a People Framework
  • Retention – Improvements to leaver data and intelligence
  • Change management – Review of change management policy/procedure
  • Performance Management – Review of Appraisal scheme
  • EDI – Implementation of the Inclusive Kingston action plan
  • Employee Travel – Joint review with LBS
  • Leadership & Management – New framework to support existing and aspiring leaders
  • Workforce Data Dashboards – New dashboard with trend analysis

A Typical Day In This Role Would Involve

  • Engaging with staff networks
  • Presenting to Trade Unions, Corporate Leadership Group etc.
  • Developing content for engagement and communications across organisations
  • Team management
  • Project management of key deliverables from the People & OD Strategy (please see attached).

You will report to the Assistant Director of People & Organisational Development (RBK).

We are a hybrid working organisation and the requirement is to come into the office twice a week. Whilst this will be more predominantly the Kingston offices, occasionally you will be required to travel to the Sutton Offices.

This role is suitable for a Senior HR Leader, looking to progress their career to the next step.

However, to be successful in this role, you must have the following:

  • Chartered Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) member, equivalent qualification and/or evidence of equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Significant experience of managing an OD enabling service and high performance teams with a focus on increasing efficiency and improving customer service.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the considerations of working within a Political environment and working with elected members on operational issues.
  • A thorough understanding of the legislation and Council policy framework in respect of the relevant service areas including Employee Relations.
  • Experience of developing organisation through a range of OD initiatives.
  • Experience of engaging with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, to use their knowledge and feedback to improve services.
  • Experience of working with external partners, key agencies and other stakeholders in delivering operational services.
  • Ability to design, shape and deliver HR strategies and inspire and motivate team members to develop and deliver high quality services.
  • Able to build and maintain strong partnership relationships in the shared service and wider.
  • Able to work flexibly and adapt quickly to changing circumstances, customer needs and priorities.
