We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Head to join our India team. He/she will be responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accounting, and Procurement teams within the shared service center. The role involves managing day-to-day operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions, and fostering collaboration among team members. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership skills, financial expertise, and a proven track record in process optimization.
- Lead and oversee all shared service accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Procurement, ensuring alignment with company standards and financial regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance shared service accounting efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness and collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate seamless financial operations and information flow between departments.
- Maintain a strong focus on internal controls and compliance, ensuring that all financial transactions adhere to established policies and regulations and regularly review and assess shared service accounting processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
- Prepare and present reports on shared service accounting performance, financial metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve payment-related queries and discrepancies and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of AP processes.
- Oversee the AR team’s activities, including invoicing, cash application, and collections, and ensure timely and accurate posting of customer payments and resolve any discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service departments to address customer billing inquiries and develop and enforce credit and collection policies to minimize overdue accounts.
- Manage the Procurement team’s activities, including vendor management, purchase order processing, and contract negotiations, and monitor procurement processes to ensure compliance with purchasing policies and budgetary constraints.
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to cultivate and sustain a high-performing shared service accounting team and foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and professional growth among team members.
- Recruit, train, and develop top talent within the shared service accounting department, ensuring a skilled and motivated workforce and setting clear performance expectations, conducting regular performance evaluations, and providing constructive feedback to drive individual and team growth.
- Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team, encouraging innovative problem-solving and cross-functional cooperation. Act as a mentor and role model for team members, inspiring them to excel in their roles and pursue professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with HR and talent acquisition teams to identify and attract top accounting and finance talent to strengthen the shared service accounting team.
- Implement performance metrics and KPIs to track team performance, identify areas for improvement, and participate in cross-functional meetings to provide insights on financial operations and contribute to strategic decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or relevant professional certification preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, including supervisory or managerial roles.
- Strong understanding of AP, AR, and procurement processes, as well as generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in ERP systems and accounting software; experience with process automation tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify process bottlenecks and implement solutions.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Exhibit strong corporate communication skills.
work environment:
- Expectation to work primarily in the Zelis-India office on a regular basis (minimum 3 days a week)
