To help us to do this, T&D is now hiring an Enterprise Learning Technology Operations Director to join our Operations and Technology Solutions team. Reporting to the Head of T&D Operations & Technology Solutions, this senior leader will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the learning technology operations within AZ. You will be responsible for the successful integrations and utilization of the learning technology ecosystem (LMS, LCMS, LxP, Adaptive, Analytics, Learning Content Libraries, etc.) to support employee and leader learning and development initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including SET area Learning & Development teams, IT, and Human Resources to develop and execute strategic plans for the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of learning technologies. He/she will lead and manage a team of L&D technology professionals ensuring they have the right capabilities to effectively partner in every aspect of the creation, delivery, and release management of AZ’s global learning technology solutions.

Leadership & Strategy – Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for learning technology operations aligned with AZ’s growth through innovation strategy. Collaborate with senior leaders and the Learning Advisory Board (LAB) to understand our SET area business strategies, challenges, and priorities to develop, socialize and manage a multi-year technology strategy to enhance the learning experience. Oversee the learning technology strategy and be able to show that there will be a commercial return on any investment made. Lead a team of learning technology professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.

Technology Implementation – Identify, evaluate, and select appropriate learning technologies, ensuring they meet AZ’s requirements. Oversee the implementation and integration of functional learning capabilities into the global learning technology ecosystem.

Learning Technology Operations & System Management – Oversee the day-to-day operations of the global learning technology ecosystem platforms, including system configuration, troubleshoots, upgrades, and maintenance. Ensure systems reliability, availability, and data integrity, troubleshooting and resolving any technical issues in partnership with global IT. Partner with HR, learning and IT leaders to identify opportunities to enhance the functionality and user experience of the learning technology platforms and inform the technology strategy for next-generation cloud solutions to support our learning business processes. Accountable for the strategy and operational delivery of our Global Learning Shared Services, working closely with the Global Business Services team to deliver a cost-effective and agile service to all SET areas. Ensure the learning systems are accessible, user-friendly, and meet the needs of the various stakeholders.

Learning System Release Management – Oversee the learning ecosystem release/update management lifecycle in partnership with IT. Monitor and evaluate learning technology demand processes and workflows for quality and effectiveness; make recommendations for improvement. Understand upcoming software releases and features from the business and technical perspectives. Provide guidance to the Head of T&D Operations and Technology Solutions to assist in setting realistic expectations related to future deliverables.

Vendor Relationship Management and Innovation – Collaborate with vendors and external partners to evaluate, select and implement learning technology solutions that drive innovation in learning technologies to enhance the learner experience of AZ employees. This includes building effective relationships and influencing the product roadmap of key learning technology vendors. Conduct regular assessments of vendor performance, and service level agreements, and negotiate contracts and pricing. Provide support on highly technicalimplementation issues when interfacing with suppliers. Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in learning technology, making recommendations for improvement and innovation that can be applied across the learning technology landscape.

Training and End User Reference Support – Provide training and support to end users, learning technology administrators, and the Global Learning Shared Services team to maximize the effectiveness of the learning technology platforms. Develop and deliver training materials, documentation, and resources to promote self-service and efficient use of learning technology tools. Act as subject matter expert and provide guidance on instructional design best practices, content delivery options, and accessibility standards.

Data Analysis and Reporting – Establish and maintain metrics and reporting mechanisms to track learning technology utilization, system performance, and user satisfaction. Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement and present findings to key stakeholders and the LAB.

Security and Compliance – Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations, implementing appropriate security measures to safeguard learner information and maintain system integrity.

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, educational technology, computer science, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus
  • Proven experience (8-10 years) in managing learning technology operations, preferably in an enterprise-level environment
  • Strong knowledge of learning platforms (LMS, LCMS, LxP) and software design tools (Articulate, Captivate, etc.), or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with learning analytics, data analysis, and reporting tools
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Knowledge of learning and development best practices, adult learning principles, and instructional design methodologies
  • Experience in vendor management and contract negotiations is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with learning technology standards, such as SCORM, xAPI is a plus
  • Previous implementation and optimization of learning technologies required
  • Previous experience with deployment and administration of an LMS/LXP preferred.

Desirable SkillsExperience of working in a complex globally regulated organization

  • Experience with Degreed, Xyleme, Cornerstone SBX, or adaptive learning technologies
