Electrical Components International (ECI) is looking for a Director, Strategy & Transformation to join our team in Southfield, MI. The role is based in Southfield, MI where the Executive Leadership team is located, with some work from home flexibility on an ad-hoc basis.
The Director, Strategy & Transformation will be responsible for supporting the Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer in defining the company’s strategy, communicating the plan to senior executives, executing business initiatives, and driving implementation efforts.
- Work directly with the Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer to define and execute the company’s strategy
- Provide strategic insights on how to position the company for accelerated growth and share with the Senior Leadership team
- Support the definition of the long-term strategy, enable strategy execution, communication, and alignment across the organization
- Lead the Project Management Office (PMO) team, driving the implementation of company-wide transformation initiatives, including strategic, commercial and operational initiatives (supply chain excellence & transformation, pricing, material cost savings, engineering value-add, long-term commercial agreements, etc.)
- Provide guidance and program management hands-on support on one of our top 3 company priorities: Enhancing our supply chain processes to ensure highest service is provided to our customers (“right parts at the right time”)
- Drive the execution of EBITDA improvement plans across various functions (pricing, purchasing, engineering, customer service, supply chain, operations, etc.)
- Utilize project management skills to hold the team accountable and ensure that deadlines are met across high-priority, cross-functional projects
- Ensure best practices are shared within the organization across regions and functions, working with P&L owners and functional leaders
- Identify key issues, critical interdependencies, structure ambiguous problems, and develop structured solutions
- Coordinates the strategic planning process
- Conduct detailed analysis and formulate recommendations on target markets, positioning, value proposition and go-to-market
- Derive strategic insights from competitive analysis and understanding of market trends to inform the long-term corporate strategy
- Identify opportunities for additional topline growth based on strategic rationale
- Steer the preparation of monthly and quarterly report-outs to the Board of Directors and other investor material (private-equity firm)
- Synthesize findings, structure presentations, and communicate action items and recommendations to senior executive team and cross functional leadership team to drive alignment
- Manage project plan deliverables including timelines, project status, or mitigation plans
- Build strong working relationships with key project team members and leaders
- Support key milestone and decision meetings and discussions with various leaders and project team members
- Ensure branding and external communications are aligned with company’s strategy and vision, across multiple channels and discussions with various leaders and project team members
- Master’s Degree or MBA strongly encouraged
- Preferred Degrees in Business, Engineering, or General Management
- 10+ years of professional experience in strategy design and implementation
- 10+ years of professional experience in driving large transformation projects
- Experience in Transformation of Supply Chain Processes is a plus
- Demonstrated experience leveraging data to better anticipate, address, mitigate and even benefit from findings.
- Must have proven experience navigating, leading and achieving high performance and exceptional results in a culture of change
- Experience preparing and presenting to a board of directors is highly preferred
- Global experience is a plus
- Must have a passion for leading day-to-day activities as a hands-on functional manager
- Excellent quantitative skills and financial acumen
- Demonstrated track record as an outstanding problem-solver and strategic thinker
- Proven ability to manage complexity and bring structure to complex and ambiguous environments
- Executive presence mastery
- High Emotional Intelligence and ability to work with different stakeholders, groups, cultures
- Deep understanding of how to link strategy to financial plans / business cases and execution
- Ability to quickly identify key issues and develop hypotheses
- Ability to collaborate effectively using broad range of influence styles to drive desired results
- Proven experience in leading teams including providing direction, understanding resource capability and successfully driving results working with internal or external resources
- Strong ability to empower, engage and motivate others
- Very strong project and process management skills, including ability to independently disaggregate problems into defined workplans
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and to manage cross-functional business partners who are not direct line reports
- Demonstrated ability to work across functional and geographic boundaries is required
- Demonstrated ability to develop deep insights, uncover unmet needs, drive innovation, inspire, develop, collaborate and lead within a global team is required
- Must be agile to quickly adapt to new processes and technologies
- Exceptional listening, verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with senior executives and throughout all levels of an organization
- Approaches conflicts as opportunities; understands others quickly; can find common ground without comprising total position
- Knowledge of manufacturing industries is encouraged; knowledge of electrical distribution systems, terminals, connection systems is a plus, but not required
- Understanding of key industry megatrends is strongly encouraged: electrification, advanced safety, high voltage
- Fully fluent in English, Spanish is a plus
- Fully proficient with MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Knowledge of Thinkcell, MS Project or other project management and reporting tools is highly encouraged
- Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus
