The Managing Director, ITS Common Services directs a globally distributed team of onsite and remote technology professionals, and leaders. This person is responsible for Data Privacy/Governance/Services, Middleware Services, Enterprise Architecture and Quality Engineering areas. They will be responsible for multiple strategic technology roadmaps and mission-critical technology products. This senior leadership role will establish the Common Services long-term technology strategy in partnership with the senior technology leadership team to deliver significant business value in the form of cost reduction, revenue generation, increase in employee and guest experience.
- Establishes the multi-year Common Services technology vision & strategy for the team and ensures that it aligns with the overall company strategy.
- Develops and executes the technology roadmaps for data privacy/governance/services, middleware, and enterprise architecture.
- Leads the Enterprise Architecture team and partners with the business teams to define the vision, goals, and multi-year strategies to enable us to excel as a technology forward company.
- Leads and supports the data transformation initiatives.
- Evolves the Quality Engineering roadmap to support emerging needs for software development throughout ITS.
- Partners with the ITS leadership team to develop and oversee implementation of technical and organizational strategies and ensure alignment with corporate goals.
- Partners closely with the ITS, eCommerce and business unit leaders and assists in setting priorities and placing realistic expectations on the scope and delivery of ITS and eCommerce initiatives.
- Works closely with technology and business partners and explores and develops cost-effective process and technology solutions that deliver the desired results.
- Oversees the day-to-day management of technology and ensures ongoing support and maintenance to meet or beat service level agreements (SLAs).
- Delivers value by using standards and reusable components with a focus on lowering costs and improving speed to market.
- Leads, motivates, and develops people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning across teams and functions.
- Positively shapes and nurtures the culture of the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.
- Ensures resources are matched with product delivery and product sustaining needs.
- Builds and maintains a strong relationship with strategic vendor partners.
- Manages a team based in multiple onshore and offshore locations.
- Owns and manages the budget for all the common services teams.
Required
- A minimum 10 years of experience in information technology management and leadership roles with progressively larger scopes of responsibility.
- 5 years of people leadership experience.
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in computer science or related discipline, or willingness to attain a Bachelor’s degree within six years of start date.
- Deep understanding of all aspects of delivering technology solutions through globally sourced, multi-vendor projects.
- Knowledge and understanding of product-based delivery, agile, and automation at scale (i.e., DEVOPS).
- Extensive experience effectively partnering with product, and business leaders and affecting business results through software engineering, implementation, and support.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams that improve systems reliability, security, scalability, and flexibility.
- Proactive leader with a demonstrated ability to oversee a portfolio of complex and transformative information technology initiatives.
- Ability to lead and inspire senior technology directors, managers, and architects to their fullest potential.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a culture of superior customer service.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- Expertise with big data, and leading data insight-related projects and initiatives.
- Experience leading multi discipline teams.
- Experience with software engineering, product management, and cloud.
- Expertise with airline technology tools and technology.
- Knowledge and understanding of quality engineering practices, including test-driven development, test automation, and service virtualization.
- Expertise in embedding AI capabilities into tools.
