GeneDx, the world’s leading genomics diagnostics company, is seeking a Head of IT Transformation to drive the continued transformation of IT Services and Infrastructure in support of GeneDx and it’s goals of delivering value to our patients.
In this role, you will work closely with the Head of IT and IT Security to tackle large strategic challenges, and independently drive critical efforts to completion. You will both apply your own technical capabilities with your hands on the keyboard to effect changes, as well as leverage shared IT engineering and services teams to make large impacts. You will usually work remotely but will visit our Gaithersburg Lab often, and will visit our Stamford, CT location infrequently. You will sometimes step in to support the other heads and leads within the IT and IT Security team. You will often work with engineers and product leads within the larger Product and Technology team, as well as with stakeholders in our Lab Operations, Research and Development, Bioinformatics, People, and Finance teams to deliver new features, and ensure you understand the fundamentals of our company goals to provide value to our customers. You will be directly supported by the Head of IT and IT Security.
With our IT and engineering colleagues, you will ensure your peers can complete their objectives where they rely on IT Services, Infrastructure, and Security capabilities. Your role is to design and implement plans based on the challenges and problems both presented to you and that you identify that involve our Service Desk, Endpoint Engineering, Networking and On-premise Infrastructure, and Security teams. Our teams will value you for your experience, foresight, ability to anticipate challenges, and your skill at distilling complex changes down to digestible nuggets.
- Support and advise development of our IT Platform technical capabilities, including our IT Service Desk, Identity and Endpoint Team, IT Infrastructure, and Information Security team.
- Develop and maintain a technology enhancement roadmap supporting the future needs of our IT Platform product roadmap.
- Ensure clarity in the IT team objectives, reducing confusion or uncertainty through clear and unambiguous guidance.
- Identify acute tactical issues that span across all IT teams and drive them to completion.
- Ensure high performance in our team by guiding effective tactics, operational models, and concepts, encouraging all to think beyond their immediate role.
- Promote and champion the benefits of a self-service first approach and crowd sourced support for both technical engineering teams and general end users.
- Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to ensure all IT governance, procedures, and support practices meet applicable standards and support audit activities.
- Naturally curious and assertive problem solver, looks for and identifies problems, collaboratively creates a plan, and executes the plan successfully.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to multiple organizational levels internally and externally.
- Comfortable managing compute and storage workloads both on premise and in the cloud, including VMware, Compellent SANs, PURE flash arrays, Azure, and AWS.
- Able to rapidly diagnose and resolve complex physical and wireless networking problems spanning fiber and copper structured cabling, BGP and OSPF dynamic routing, 802.11x certificate authentication for wireless, Azure Express Routes, and AWS Direct Connections.
- Experience refining and automating recurring tasks in IdP’s including Azure AD
- Experiencing developing and teaching the development of Infrastructure as Code run books for on premise and cloud resource management, and best practices therein.
- Experience in HIPAA and/or HITRUST environments.
