The Director/Senior Director of Finance is a strategic partner whose primary role is to work with the CFO in directing the fiscal functions of subsidiaries and investees as well as manages CEI’s accounting and finance and other assigned companies (collectively referred to as The Companies). This job manages The Companies’ financial and accounting processes of all studio and subsidiary operations, provides financial information that will assist management in making educated economic decisions, and effectively helps achieve enterprise grown related to The Companies’ missions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Streamline and manage systems with the appropriate balance of internal controls to effectively support company operations.
- Oversee and manage the contract and investor agreement compliance, including but not limited to regulation, interpretation, reporting timeline maintenance, and member reporting.
Finance And Resource Development
- Work in partnership with the CFO, company executives and directors to provide management of the organization’s budgets and financial processes.
- As a true business partner to the CFO and executives and managers, assist in assessing organizational performance against both the annual budget and The Companies’ long-term strategy. Assist in the development of and carryout the management of tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CFO and assist in making actionable and measurable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
- Manage long-term budgetary plans and costs management in alignment with The Companies’ strategic plan, especially as the organization considers outreach, potential developments and acquisitions, and collaborations with external organizations. Work with program management to help them understand their fiscal responsibility.
- Responsible for managing receivables related to services, content sales, investment commitments and other earned income streams to ensure timely receipt to support growth of The Companies.
- Responsible for researching and summarizing GAAP and tax law application and impacts for The Companies’ financial activity, writing position papers for CFO approval, and implementing the standards.
- In collaboration with the executives, provide research and analysis and lead the due diligence on potential investments and new business operations.
- Through collaboration with managers and the executive team ensure compliance with all applicable laws related to financial and grant management.
- Manage the accounting department to ensure for accurate and timely reporting and compliance requests, including but not limited to budget to actual analysis for program directors, preparation of Board of Directors financial reporting, tax reporting forms, the grant fiscal reports, and audited financial reports, submission of the annual reports.
- Assist the CFO in safe guarding and management of The Companies’ financial and long-term assets.
- Oversee all accounting and reporting functions of The Companies. This will include managing the staff and processes that produce monthly financial statements for management personnel as well as summarized financials and written narrative of variances for members of their Board.
Partnership
- Foster internal partnerships that support programs to enhance program services.
- Through the finance function foster external partnerships that will help grow our enterprise base.
- In collaboration with CFO, represent The Companies to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, tax preparers, consultants, etc.
- Maintain good working relationship with assigned shared services clients.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
Advocacy
- Manage finance operations, assets and resources of The Companies to ensure that their use reflects positively on CITC and The Companies.
- Work with CFO to analyze changes or proposed changes to laws and regulations impacting financial operations.
Governance And Administration
- Work with CFO, executives, and directors to develop timely and relevant Board reports summarizing the organization’s overall activities, including progress toward strategic goals and implementing and updating the Sustainability plan.
- Participate in the development of The Companies’ plans and development initiatives as a strategic partner.
- Inform and consult with executives on financial activities, opportunities, challenges, and to seek guidance and direction.
Staff Supervision
- Provide regular ongoing supervision to The Companies’ assigned accounting staff.
- Complete staff evaluations.
- Conduct regular staff meetings.
- Address personnel issues.
- Interview and hire new staff.
- Responsible for staff training.
Internal / External Relations
- All personnel within The Companies, CITC and affiliated non-profit organizations.
- State, Federal and private funding sources.
- Major contractors and vendors.
- Facilities tenants.
- Finance and bank institutions.
- External accountants.

Additional Job Specifications/Skills/Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive work plans for short, mid-range and long-term projects such as financial analysis for operating departments; for accounting and internal control considerations and the skills to manage such projects along with the demonstrated ability to perform many of the related project tasks.
- Financial and audit skills commensurate with a corporation the size and functional orientation of CITC and its affiliates.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, and affiliated-company employees.

Job Responsibilities Related To Participant Privacy
- Employee is expected to actively participate in CITC privacy training and to protect the privacy of participant information in accordance with CITC’s privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law. Failure to comply with CITC’s policies and procedures on participant privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
- Employee may access protected health information and other participant information only to the extent necessary to complete job duties. Employee may only share such information on a need to know basis with others who have job responsibilities related to treatment, payment, or other CITC operations.
- Employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding CITC’s policies and procedures on participant privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to the designated Privacy Officer.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
- Five (5) years of equivalent progressive experience including:
- Complex consolidated financial statement preparation, including all statements, footnotes, and management discussion and analysis.
- Preparing and analyzing operating, capital, and cash flow pro formas and budgets.
- Two (2) years of supervisory, management, or leadership experience.
- Continued employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced/Master’s degree and/or professional certifications.
- CPA/CMA certification.
- Ten (10) years’ equivalent progressive experience as identified in the minimum qualifications.
