The College of Pharmacy is recruiting for an exceptional candidate for a newly developed Director of Reporting and Research Administration position to lead our growing research administration program. As a Director in this critical mission area, you will play a pivotal role in research-related strategic plan implementation, overseeing pre-award activities, enhancing post-award management, and developing transparent and streamlined reporting mechanisms to support research programs throughout the college. The Director will represent the colleges interests and needs through university level strategic initiatives in support of Research Administration. As Director, you will serve as a leader, mentor, coach, and support to a growing team which includes an Assistant Director of pre-award activities and a team of 7 cradle to grave research administrators.

Leadership responsibilities:

  • Serve as the direct supervisor of the COP Shared Services Center Research team with a focus on mentorship, coaching, and professional development of the team
  • Establish collaborative relationships with college leadership, faculty, and other stakeholders in a manner that fosters a growing research environment, ensures compliance with federal and UF regulations, and is in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the college of pharmacy
  • Serve as the primary administrative sponsored research contact for the college
  • Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure the effective administration of all grant functions including pre and post award activities
  • Create training programs to ensure compliance with university and specific college rules and regulations related to grants processing
  • Responsible for resource planning of the COP SSC team in determining portfolio distributions, assignment of PI’s to individual team members, and balancing load complexity
  • Establish communication channels with department faculty and leadership that allow for requests and feedback on support services

Pre-Award Management

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director on strategic efforts to strengthen the quality of outgoing proposal submissions
  • Connect COP researchers with new funding opportunities

Post-Award Management

  • Lead the SSC research team to interpret and implement accounting policies of granting agencies for principal investigators and program directors
  • Assures that all grant and contract funds are expended appropriately
  • Serve as the lead liaison for COP faculty and program directors with the Division of Sponsored Programs, Contracts and Grants, Finance and Accounting, and other department and college research offices
  • Serve as primary contact for close outs, related problems, and resolutions

Data Analytics And Reporting

  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Finance and Administration to accurately and effectively report data analytics on behalf of the college for both internal and external constituents
  • Serve as a liaison and advocate to UF’s DSP, C&G and Enterprise Reporting teams to provide thoughtful, informed and productive feedback for future application enhancements to improve workflow and data analytics

  • Significant leadership experience with ability to mentor a diverse team with a professional growth mindset
  • Strategic planning and implementation skills
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and guidelines governing research
  • Thorough knowledge of financial and internal control systems related to grants administration
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, analytical, organization, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Aptitude for conflict resolution, problem solving, and staff development
  • Strong background in research administration, developing and implementing tools for process improvement, and ability to create effective financial reports
