The Director, Nursing Business Operations leads and manages administrative and operational oversight within Corewell Health’s Shared Services Nursing division and leads the development and implementation of policies, procedures and strategies related to Corewell Nursing’s strategic business operations. Oversight of multiple departments and operational performance. Accountable for development of annual operating plan; management of CH nursing administration budget, preparation of capital expenditure budget and change management activities associated with major initiatives. This position reports directly to Corewell Health East’s SVP and Chief Nursing Executive.

  • Serve as a resource for Corewell Health’s SVP & Chief Nursing Executive, Corewell Health Nursing Administration and serves as a member of the Nursing Executive Council (NEC).
  • Partners with NEC and other divisions to coordinate capital, technology, workforce strategies, workplace planning, and other projects and special assignments for nursing, as needed.
  • Chairs committees, organizes groups, and serves as a project manager for Corewell Health Shared Services Nursing division with major projects and activities.
  • Tracks progress and regular reports on Nursing annual operating plan.
  • Partners with HR/compensation to communicate trends and highlights, workforce programs and serves as a liaison to recruitment and compensation.
  • Coordinate business process designs and best practices as it pertains to projects and programs for local nursing business managers throughout Corewell Health business units.
  • Attends key nursing and patient care leadership meetings and participates in decisions making.
  • Leads strategic planning and resource allocation needs to meet nursing productivity and performance goals.
  • Serves a liaison with Finance as a subject matter expert as it pertains to staffing and productivity for nursing units.
  • Develop and implement a Central Staffing Office.
  • Collaborates with other divisions and teams to build nursing dashboards, business continuity plans, and staffing reports, as necessary.
  • Leads software and programs related to nursing operations, such as ANSOS scheduling software, Avasys/remote sitter monitoring, contingent compensation models, crisis labor pools, constant observation, community sponsorship, nurse’s week activities, and system float pool.
  • Oversight and management of managed service provider (MSP) relationship, workflows, invoices, metrics and reports.
  • Oversight and management of additional programs, such as Administrative Fellowship, Arts for the Spirit, and Therapeutic Music.
  • Utilizes available automation and decisions support tools to ensure effective labor management on patient care units and oversee Flex nursing for the East region.
  • Required Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or health related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience Minimum of five (5) years relevant programmatic/managerial experience in a hospital setting. Required
