What’s it like to work at BAE Systems? In a word, Remarkable! Join our team! BAE Systems is looking for a skilled and experienced Finance Shared Services Director. This role reports to the Vice President, Enterprise Shared Services (ESS) and is responsible for the execution and implementation of major Finance related projects, innovation and continuous improvement within Enterprise Shared Services (ESS).

Finance Shared Services (FSS) provides business support services to the BAE Systems US business units. Areas of service include Payroll Operations (including payroll tax, garnishments and compliance), reporting and management of Time Entry (Time Collection), Accounts Payable, Cash Application, Credit Card administration and processing of Travel and Expense. Additionally, management of customer support for related services including contact center; functional testing and support for FSS system upgrades, integrations and improvements, establishing and training Finance partners on policies and procedures; providing information for analysis, and value creation; management and analysis of ESS budgets, cost and Shared Services allocations.

The Finance Director will provide leadership and strategic planning for Finance Shared Services functional and business unit projects. This includes managing the day-to-day project execution, coordinating issue resolution, driving continuous improvement and maintaining relationships with sector/business unit customers. The position will manage the continuous development of the existing service center activities and incorporate future, expanded services.

• Continuously revise, create and implement Finance Shared Services strategy for the company, seeking to identify opportunities to enhance the role and performance of the Service Center and improving services to its customers;
• Utilize goal/objective setting and measurement processes to drive improvement in internal customer service/business partnering, efficiency, timeliness, data availability and business performance, transparency, leveraging metrics to drive performance;
• Effectively liaise and maintain key relationships with business unit customers to ensure project requirements are met or exceeded;
• Regularly and actively share information and best practices across shared service functions across BAE Systems, Inc. Remain abreast of best practices and trends relevant to Shared Services and related technologies; identify and pursue continuous improvements and automation opportunities.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years of work experience;
• Experience working with Finance and Accounting services included in a Shared Service Center;
• Experience managing implementation of technology and executing process improvements within the organization;
• Must possess a solid understanding of enterprise financial systems e.g., Oracle EBS, Deltek CostPoint, PeopleSoft and Concur;
• Experience with internal controls over financial reporting in Finance Shared Services environment;
• Demonstrated experience leading employees and teams in a cohesive, collaborative environment;
• Experience managing customer relationships and resolving dissatisfied or difficult customer issues;
• Excellent entrepreneurial skills and ability to work independently;
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively work with significant evidence of business partnering and leading teams;
• Ability to articulate complex subject matter effectively;
• Excellent organizational skills; Strong process and systems skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Master’s Degree preferred;
• CPA preferred;
• Prior experience working in a Finance Shared Service/call center environment;
• Demonstrated experience performing accounting services as a defense/government contractor in a governmentally regulated and compliant organization, specifically DCAA, is strongly preferred;
• Proven experience translating business requirements into service opportunities;
• Previous experience managing implementation of technology and executing process improvements within the organization;
• Best practices familiarity and benchmarking capabilities;
• Strong ability to scale from transactional details to high level strategic thinking.
