The Senior Director, Accounts Payable will be responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the Accounts Payable shared services team, supporting Iron Mountain.

This role will be the “face” of the Shared Service AP team, and must demonstrate a high degree of customer orientation to meet the needs of suppliers and internal stakeholders

The role will be expanded to include the overall quality of service delivery from AP to the IRM organization. This expansion includes increasing scope of services to all 55+ Iron Mountain countries and all lines of business. The role also will expand to provide oversight and direction for the outsourcing vendor and IRM employees including re-imagining the service model for the Iron Mountain enterprise.

This role will also form an integral part of the Finance Shared Service leadership team in providing insights into building out a successful Finance Shared Services organization.

  • For the IRM enterprise Act as the “face” of the Accounts Payable team, and exhibit a high degree of customer service for internal “customers / business partners” across the organization.
  • Deliver paid on time metrics for all vendors, with specific focus on critical vendors and designated suppliers
  • Own strategy development for future state account payables function that services all Iron Mountain countries and lines of business,
  • Build future state organization model (make vs buy) for a one IRM global AP function.
  • Builds and owns transformation plan, in partnership with out-sourcing vendor, on continuous improvement through automation.
  • Vendor master file maintenance, including oversight of vendor set up process and ongoing maintenance
  • Develops implements and maintains systems, procedures and policies, including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
  • Develops and monitors compliance with all financial and accounting policies, including Delegation of Authority (DoA) at all locations to ensure all payments are properly authorized.
  • Institutes and maintains internal control procedures and financial accountability, including ICOFR for end-to-end payables function.
  • Monitors the health of the payables function through the creation and monitoring of reports and key performance indicators.
  • Manages monthly closing of AP and posting of month-end information and ensures the accuracy of financial statements including timely completion of Account Reconciliations.
  • Responsible for the performance of the geographically distributed AP team, including development, training and promotion/recruitment/terminations;
  • Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the performance standards of the AP services provided by an outsourcing vendor.

Measurable Outcomes

  • Deliver a strategic plan that defines Accounts payable function servicing all Iron Mountain countries and full vendor spend ($4B+) and build an organizational model to deliver outcomes.
  • Own the AP relationship with the outsourcing vendor partner to deliver the contract deliverables.
  • Understand supplier segments and Improve paid on time performance from current levels to best in class.
  • Build out analytics that signal process gaps hindering paid on time % and develop monitoring dashboards for controls.
  • Create visible metrics for case management and issue resolution.
  • Build continuous improvement plans to minimize processing delays, increase paid on time and increase controls against fraud.
  • 12-15+ years experience in a fast paced transactional environment with experience managing large spend ~$4B+ annually and millions of transactions in multiple countries.
  • Lean or six sigma certifications strongly desired.
  • Strong people leader and cross-functional leader who can direct company resources and vendor partners on strategy and execution.
  • Track record of strategy development and consensus building with broad and diverse stakeholder groups at VP+ level.
  • Experience with executing through outsourcing partners with a track record of exceeding KPI’s.
  • Visionary who can build organizational plans to meet business needs.
  • Strongly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strongly proficient in knowledge of accounting principles and Accounts Payable processes.
  • Strong ability to build analytics and use those analytics to develop strategies globally.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex information at all leadership levels and across multiple functions.
  • Ability to identify and project manage new initiatives.
  • Ability to build and foster relationships with all levels of the organization.
