The HR Director, Shared Services oversees the company’s employee benefits programs including wellness initiatives and leave of absence, workers’ compensation program, as well as CDL driver DOT compliance. This role oversees two direct reports, an HR Generalist and an Employee Benefits & Wellness Specialist.

Employee benefit programs:

  • Oversee the company’s medical, HRA, FSA, dental, vision, enhanced short term disability, long term disability, group term life, and voluntary life plans.
  • Partner with finance to ensure self-insured plan financials are accrued for and balanced each month.
  • Oversee the company’s leave of absence program, policies, and third party administrator
  • Oversees benefit vendors ensuring the transfer of data for any files feeds and evaluating their general performance
  • Ensures all plans are administered appropriately including enrollments, changes, terminations.
  • Plan, educate, and execute annual open enrollment
  • Monitor and analyze benefit costs, making recommendations for cost-effective benefit offerings

Workers’ compensation program:

  • Oversee and manage the company’s performance in our commercial insurance captive.
  • Report on monthly reserves and claim statistics including claim volume, claim severity, and useful data points impacting the company’s workers’ comp liability.
  • Partner with each site to ensure annual compliance reporting is completed (OSHA)
  • Responds to incident escalations involving compensability questions.
  • Implements strategies and programs to reduce workers’ compensation liability i.e. utilization of a nurse line for reporting and the first aid self-pay option in NYS.
  • Oversee the day to day case management of claims

DOT Compliance:

  • Oversee CDL driver compliance programs and requirements.
    • CDL driver qualification files
    • Quarterly CDL random drug program administration
    • Annual DOT motor vehicle report requirement
    • Annual Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse limited query requirement
  • Oversee maintenance of the NYS license event notification system (LENS)
  • Oversee the implementation and training of reasonable suspicion policies and procedures
