Division/Department: Global Finance and Accounting Services Team (GFAST)- Global Shared Services (GSS)
Location: Americas region (anywhere that we have an ChildFund office within America Region)
Reporting Relationship: Director of Global Shared Services (GSS) Accounting.
SUMMARY: This position is as part of the Global Finance and Accounting Services Team – Global Shared Services (GSS). This position is responsible for ensuring that the local accounting processes of Country Offices in an assigned area are completed on a timely and accurate basis an in accordance with US GAAP as well as IFRS organizational policies and procedures as well as local requirements.
This position provides support for corporate software management, including training, report development, support to users and trouble shooting. This position also provides services and support to non-GSS staff in regard to accounting, financial reports, and end month closing review.
- Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.
- Management and oversight of accounting staff for the Global Accounting Shared Services (GSS) Team in the America region. This position will ensure skills development, productivity, efficiency, and accuracy in work performed; responsible for hiring and retaining qualified Senior Accountants and Accountants that support their country offices while incorporating performance feedback from the assigned Country Office Directors.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close of RO/CO’s APs and General Ledgers.
- To perform all accounting deliverables based on SLAs/MoUs, such as Accounts Payable, local compliance reporting, etc.
- Analysis of financial data to determine accuracy and completeness. This includes reviewing account balances and related account reconciliations for accuracy on a regular basis.
- Budget Loads in the system on timely fashion for proper financial statements and reports, monitoring and follow up.
- Provide support for reviews, internal and external audit facilitation.
- Collaborate with Finance Managers with report design and generation.
- Responsible for coordination of financial software to include needs assessment, implementation, training, technical support, and development of end-user support manuals.
- Coordinate users grant access to profiles and withdrawal at departure.
- First level of trouble shooting of the technical problems of financial systems and software by providing on-going technical support and liaison with IO Team and technical consultants.
- Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.
- Other tasks assigned by Supervisor.
- 7+ years’ experience in international finance or financial management; exposure to INGO finance environment preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge of generally accepted international accounting principles, internal controls, auditing, and grants management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrated strong project management skills.
- Demonstrated strong remotely management skills.
- Demonstrated experience with e-financial systems or related software.
- Evidence of critical and analytical thinking; pragmatic problem-solver/able to confront issues & achieve effective resolution.
- Strong management skills including the ability to train/develop others in financial management & accounting.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity & experience.
- Effective under pressure, results oriented & proactive.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional integrity.
- Computer literate – Word processing, spreadsheets, internet.
- Fluency in English required, proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese preferred.
- Required travel of 20 – 30% in developing nations with limited infrastructure.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or equivalent relevant work experience; post graduate degree preferred; CPA or CMA designation highly preferred.
