The Budget Director is responsible for overseeing the organization’s annual budget process, monthly and quarterly budget variance reviews with the operating divisions and liaise with Vice Presidents and Revenue Director to achieve optimal financial results. The Budget Director will lead the financial reporting and variance analysis to ensure achievement of the organization’s budget goals.
- Oversee and coordinate the annual budget process for the organizations’ programs and shared services.
- Conduct monthly budget meetings with operations and leadership. Develop action plans, as necessary, to achieve budget targets.
- Prepare quarterly finance report package for the board.
- Liaison with external auditors and Controller as it relates to budgeting and financial reporting.
- Develop standard reporting package for the different operating divisions that is responsive to their needs, including metrics.
- Provide analysis and projections based on business models.
- Key person in implementation of new budget reporting and F P & A software.
- Oversee 2 direct reports to accomplish the required responsibilities of the budget and reporting function for the organization.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand budgeting concepts and work with program directors effectively.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, multitask and juggle competing priorities.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages, high level of expertise with Excel.
- Knowledge of financial reporting software, FPA.
- Knowledge of government contract revenue process and cycle a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
- Capable of troubleshooting problems as they arise in a calm, effective, and rational manner.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance or related field or financial management or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience in corporate budgeting and reporting, preferably in a government contract environment.
MBA, or advanced degree preferred.
