The Manager, Accounting & Compliance (Captive) establishes and leads a team of professionals who supports finance and accounting operations globally for Asurion based on agreed upon performance expectations. This position is responsible for creating value to the organization by developing a highly reliable team for Captive Accounting and Obligors. Ensures the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of accounting processes for Captive Accounting in compliance with company policies and procedures. Oversees the daily functioning of the team to ensure work is properly allocated and completed, and drives process improvements to gain productivity, efficiency and reduction of costs. The manager is expected to partner with the team’s customers on complex issues, and train staff members to enable goals are achieved timely.
- Responsible for the on-time and successful transition of regional and global functions to the finance shared service center in Manila
- Establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track performance of the global finance shared service center
- Ensure service delivery according to the SLA and manage relationship with onshore teams
- Oversee accounts, ledgers and reporting systems related to the process ensuring compliance with appropriate generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory guidelines
- Manage the shared service close activities for Captive Accounting, in accordance with the set-forth due dates & deadlines of each region
- Reviews general ledger entries related to the responsibilities set for the overall team.
- Checks and monitors month-end closing activities related accordance to set-forth due dates & deadlines. This includes providing insight to the team members on opportunities to better understand and add more value.
- Understand customer contract pricing structures and ensure it flows appropriately throughout the Captive financials.
- Review and approves financial transactions, as necessary.
- Review account reconciliations and various analyses (Reserves, 3rd party settlements, inter-company transactions, etc.)
- Review and posting of invoices for settlements.
- Administers and monitors financial system in order to ensure that the ledger accounts are maintained in an accurate and timely manner
- Ensure compliance with approval matrix and related policies for all invoicing and payment transactions
- Assists in preparation of financial policies and procedures, specifically in the captive accounting functions
- Collaborate with cross functional partners, such as Program Management, Technology, Legal, and FP&A, to provide accounting compliant solutions. Communicate the accounting implication to stakeholders at all levels.
- Develop and streamline processes and SOX compliant controls around inventory and related financial reporting metrics. Create efficiencies and simplification by leveraging technology solutions and automation.
- Act as escalation point, manage complaints, own quality of service and is responsible for tracking and reporting on service level performance
- Continuously review month end closing bottlenecks and promote a continuous improvement culture and lead regional efforts towards process standardization, strive to minimize exceptions and automate processes
- Accountable for people management (selection, training, appraisal, retention and development), and conduct regular coaching and mentoring to direct reports and ensure alignment of training investment to the Individual Developmental Plan
- Managed different projects of the team such as process automations and/or improvements
- Development of direct reports, including establishing individual development plans and overall succession planning
- Responsible for the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan of the team including internal back-up plan
- Perform ad hoc activities and tasks as required
- Liaison with internal departments and regional head office, etc., as required
- BS Accountancy graduate (or equivalent)
- Certified Public Accountant is a Strong Preference
- Master’s Degree in Business/Finance a Plus
- Proven track record in leading and shaping finance shared services delivery teams
- At least 10 years of experience in different areas in finance and accounting
- At least 5 years people leading experience with specific experience in planning and organizing the work of others; managing self and others through change; driving performance execution and results; motivating and developing high performing teams; supporting collaboration cross functionally; leading courageously; divine discontent; displaying credibility and influence
- Knowledge or have background in internal controls and Insurance Accounting Standard.
- Experience in business process outsourcing (BPO) or Share Services industry in a similar position
- Experience with computerized accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- OneStream experience is a plus

- Strong ability to influence multi-disciplinary teams/stakeholder groups to drive a continuous improvement culture
- Strong problem solving, analysis and troubleshooting skills – identifies areas for process improvements and leads/participates in implementation
- Extensive written and spoken English language required, as well as interpersonal and relationship building skills across cultures
- In-depth knowledge of financial accounting and US GAAP
- Excellent in Microsoft Windows and Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Access is a plus)
