Parkland County is a collective of local departments working together to promote Parkland County, Alberta. This is achieved through the support of the business community via startup, retention, expansion and attraction efforts, as well as by providing resources for residents to maintain and support lifestyle and well-being initiatives.
Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Chief Information Officer.
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) plans, develops, and implements policies, strategies, and programs related to the management of Parkland County’s business applications, GIS applications, and IT infrastructure and operations. The CIO is also charged with stewardship over the County’s information and data. This position provides leadership, direction and support to internal and external clients and directs staff in a variety of functional capacities to achieve this objective. The CIO is charged with providing services related to the County’s Geographic Information Systems and IT Infrastructure; Operations Management; and Information Stewardship. This position is also responsible for ensuring these services are cost efficient, effective in meeting the needs of clients and are valued as measured by a high level of client satisfaction, business value and business outcomes.
- Post-Secondary Diploma in Management, Technology, or a related discipline. Project Management Professional (PMP), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3/4 certification would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ related experience, with proven leadership capabilities, including communication, influence, negotiations, conflict resolution, people management, and relationship management (internal and external).
- The demonstrated ability to drive change and manage teams to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects is required.
- Extensive experience with large-scale enterprise IS projects, especially in the public sector. Strong understanding of systems architecture with hands-on experience in analyzing, designing, maintaining, and implementing IS infrastructure.

- Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
