Controllers – Finance and Risk Shared Services (FRSS) is a strategic, global partner leading key Finance, Risk and Tax reporting processes, driving innovative solutions through transformation, end-to-end business knowledge and control discipline. The Global Lead of Close& Assurance Processes is a strategic role who represents these processes on key global forums and leads its strategic direction and transformation with accountable ensuring its consistency, standardization and its continuous transformation. This includes to manage the transformation driven by BAU improvements, Consent Order or other firm wide initiatives, like STP/MTP improvements, automations, etc. This role has a significant impact on the overall performance and effectiveness of total FRSS organization as it covers process which is executed by around 600 Headcount (~25% of total FRSS).

The role also covers the representation of the wider Accounting, Close & Assurance processes in the Costa Rica Center and has to work closely with the Costa Rica Center’s Leadership.

The role may require in-depth understanding of the close and/or assurance processes to be able to drive the related transformation. The Lead will be responsible for partner management and stakeholder (both within and outside FRSS) interaction across all core responsibilities of the global function.

  • This is a senior leadership role to drive further enhancement of the design, standardization and centralization of the global Close and Assurance processes. Create mid and long term vision and strategy for the functions and follow an execution plan to materialize it.
  • Represent the wider Accounting & Assurance team in the Costa Rica Center and its Leadership forums
  • Senior Partner of the Consent Order Books and Records team and Lead the Consent Order work assigned to this team by the Consent Order Program Owner (Finance Books and Records team). Ensure all related deliverables are met.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business/functional decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s, Function’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup/Controllers/FRSS and escalating, managing and reporting risk and control issues with transparency.
  • Maintain an effective interaction model with multi-geography Close and Assurance partners
  • Lead the global Close and Assurance team to deliver results and influence change effectively across geographic and functional areas and levels. Manage wider team of internal and external subject matter experts and business/function analysts to reach organizational/program targets.
  • Ensure efficient knowledge sharing and backup structure to manage the tasks efficiently and flexibly
  • Manage multiple priorities, plans and tasks (including BAU projects (STP, MTP reduction, further centralization, standardization, automation) and Consent order projects) and work with geographically diverse resources. Responsible for managing a department level project plans and key milestones/deliverables. Escalate potential issues identified in working group sessions.
  • Active leadership in planning and various reviews sessions to identify and facilitate remediation of detailed action plans and commitments to Consent Order targets.
  • Participate in cross-functional and cross-organizational working groups to drive consensus and resolution for agreed actions and targets. Responsible for reviewing updated project plans and key milestones related to project completion.
  • Ensure the project plans and action items are up to date and published to stakeholders.
  • Actively manage and develop the team focusing on their needs and problem areas.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Accounting or Finance related fields.
  • Advanced English level
  • Strong people management experience
  • Strong background in one or more of the Reporting Operations disciplines or areas of Finance.
  • Experience and Expertise leading and delivering of Financial Accounting, Close or Analysis processes is desirable.
  • Previous Supervisory or Management experience is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Proven skills in leadership, strategic planning, project management and organizational structure.
  • Experience in managing projects and professionals across business lines would be a plus.
  • Clear and concise communication (written, verbal) skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, acting as an expert or advisor on Accounting and Close matters.
  • Experience with process reengineering / process improvement, design and implementation of accounting and closing processes.
  • Ability to identify problems and take appropriate actions to resolve issues.
  • Global awareness and global business orientation.
