We’re looking for Deputy Head of Audit for the Ealing and Hounslow Shared Internal Audit Service. As an established shared service, we decided to move from a predominantly outsourced arrangement to growing our own. We are looking to build a centre of excellence for internal audit, allowing our staff to develop and grow. The Deputy Head of Audit role will be a great opportunity for development into a Head of Audit role in the future.

The role will provide strategic support to the Assistant Director of Audit to recruit and manage the in-house audit team is operated in line with best practice and statutory guidelines. Also providing support and guidance to enable management to develop and maintain a robust internal control environment.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for delivering the internal audit programme across the shared service. Initially with support from the Assistant Director, the aim is also for the role to provide the head of audit function for our smaller partners (council owned companies and West London Waste Authority). You will lead on their delivery, including undertaking planning, and reporting to their audit committees. You will undertake a few strategic audits and oversee completion of the rest of the work by the new in-house team once in place.
