The Director, Accounting Operations, will be responsible for leading the accounting operations in a global shared services environment including accounts payable, procure to pay processes, payroll processing, billing, billing and collections, accounts receivable, strategic initiatives, and other ad hoc projects. The Director will report to the CFO and a manage a globally dispersed team of 10.
- Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals in a mostly remote global work environment, operating a shared services model.
- Provide hands-on management and oversight of various accounting processes and controls including procure to pay, AP, customer invoice processing and collections.
- Need to have a strong understanding of US GAAP and Internal Control Frameworks
- Responsible for overseeing the global payroll team and adhering to tax regulations.
- Preparation of weekly cash forecast in a multi-currency environment including review and approval workflows of cash disbursements
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal control policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with senior executives and across functions such as Corporate Accounting, General Ledger, Tax, FP&A, Treasury, HR and others to ensure consistent, standard, defined processes of financial reporting and forecasts
- Lead the design and implementation of process improvements, including global standardized processes, automation of current processes and implementation of a global shared service center
- Develop and report key operational metrics indicating the health of the accounting operations.
- Develop reporting KPIs, including operational and financial metrics.
- Develop desktop procedures across the organization to enable training across the organization.
- Lead, mentor, and ensure engagement of the team, while partnering with the team to establish OKRs.
- Responsible for completing ad hoc projects as they occur
- Possible additional functions and responsibilities in the future dependent on skills, capabilities, and organizational strategy
- 10+ years of Finance and Accounting experience in Public & Private sectors
- 4+ years prior leadership/management roles in accounting, preference in high growth environments
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP Accounting and Reporting requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data processing, with a preference for operational process improvement experience.
- Experience overseeing global accounting operations and shared services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptable, team-focused work style with a collaborative approach.
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Comfortable working under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Business, or Finance (required), CPA preferred.
