The Director Accounting Services – Accounts Payable is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the Accounts Payable shared services team. This role will be a key member of our growing Finance Shared Service leadership team contributing to our continued build-out a successful Finance Shared Services organization.
- Directs and leads geographically dispersed, high-volume AP team of 40+ FTE’s. In addition, manages the relationship with offshore vendor who provides an additional 50+ resources.
- Business owner of the Accounts Payable application, responsible for guidance on proper use and processes and management of quarterly vendor application updates.
- Develops an in-depth understanding of the data flow for as-is Accounts Payable transactions and processes, identify inefficiency and issues and lead improvement.
- Responsible for team performance including recruitment, training, and development. Also provides guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to ensure the team’s success.
- Manages a team that facilitates timely, accurate and reliable Invoices Payments as well as accurate and timely vendor set-up and management.
- Actively performs and participates in the review of month-end close activities, financial audit, balance sheet flux and subsequent reporting.
- Leads the annual 1099 preparation.
- Responsible for the management of offshore vendors.
- Continuously monitors the health of the payables function.
- Interacts and collaborates with multiple teams including Procurement, Finance, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and IT.
- Leads the establishment and maintenance for AP policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards.
- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements, including identifying and documenting key controls and processes and supporting internal controls testing.
- Independently and in collaboration with other teams, drives continuous improvement efforts by implementing process improvements, technology driven solutions and automation.
- Leads execution of business process improvements which optimize performance, improve end-user experience, and enables scale for growth.
- Provides experience and judgment to drive decision making on behalf of the team.

- Minimum of 8 years of experience leading accounts payable or shared services operations.
- Extensive experience with Accounts Payable financial/accounting systems (Microsoft D365 or Oracle Cloud experience a plus).
- Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Power Point and Word.
- Excellent leadership, management and supervisory skills including team building, influencing, motivating, developing, and overseeing onsite and offsite staff.
- Transformation experience including experience with application implementation.
- Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
- Independent, self-starter with strong business/financial acumen
- Experienced in change adoption and management.
- Experience in influencing cross-functional leaders in a large organization.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 8 years of related professional level accounting or financial experience.
- Minimum of 5 years managerial, supervisory or lead experience.
