The Director of the Central Business Services Office (CBSO) provides direct leadership, guidance, and oversight for all operations and management of the CBSO and relationships with unit partners. In this role, you will build and maintain strong relationships with the academic leadership in partner units, promoting a positive and trustworthy reputation for the CBSO. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with a variety of partners across campus including other shared services and central university units.

You will lead, and meet regularly with, the CBOS governance committee and engage unit leaders as needed to develop reports and other useful tools that promote operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- As the director, you will oversee both the strategic plan for CBOS and the implementation of appropriate business and human resource processes and internal controls. You will develop, interpret, and act on appropriate metrics to analyze the effectiveness of operations. In this position, you will use your effective communication skills to ensure transparency into policy and process for stakeholders, and you’ll meet, and manage, expectations of those stakeholders through service agreements, excellent customer service, and relationship building.
- A big part of this position will be building and enhancing a cohesive and positive culture within CBSO through team building, mentoring, and coaching. You will provide comprehensive, visible, and effective leadership to a team of 20, including four direct reports. You will supervise and have oversight of employees in multiple employee groups, including groups that are part of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs). It will be important that you know and understand the relevant policies and CBAs and ensure appropriate training for your team. As in any leadership position, you will handle escalating employee conflicts, discipline, performance management, employee development, and resourcing staffing needs. All university employees will have annual performance reviews.
- While there is room for a lot of innovation and creativity in this role, there is also a high level of support. This position will be one of several shared service directors on campus and will work closely with university partners who can provide guidance, consultation, subject-matter expertise, and a sounding board for new ideas.
